    @Toon

    Essien made loads of mistakes, which isnt surprising as he is not a CB, was very lucky to get away with them.

    I thought the best players yesterday were Rooney, Vidic, Robben, Scholes and Cech. Everyone else was pretty rubbish, which isnt surprising considering how poor the game was.

    @Grim

    The game yesterday was boring, but it wasn't $h!t on a stick, thats for sure.

    Ps Rooney has been one of the best players in two Fa Cup finals and has lost both of them, maybe next time he will play really badly and win.

    @Rez

    Call it what you like - but that was a terrible game of football I've seen for a long time.

    Not saying that because I despise both teams

    Chelsea especially, were shocking after the break - they even stopped their usual "hoofs" to Drogba - no attempt to win the game whatsoever...why they took off Joe Cole is beyond me - he was the only player who looked interested.

    At least in United's case - they had a 10 min spell where they tried to win the game without creating any clear cut chances.

    The CL tie at least had tension and atmosphere and a moment of quality in our goal

    Yesterday up until drogba's goal this game had absolutly nothing going for it whatsoever

    A criminal atmosphere to break in a brilliant new stadium. chelsea fans do not sing ANYTHING whereas united fans just sing the one song about ronaldo which they stole from us

    the first 45 minutes was the most lax, unadventurous, ponderous, pitiful excuse for football all season. no team put ANY effort in at all. This can't be said of our semi final. It lacked quality but at least had intensity

    Also practically everyone I came across the next day said they enjoyed our match precisely because there was tension in it. Nobody could have enjoyed that yesterday Laughing

    The man's a beast. Nice to see him just bump Scholes off him, when Scholes was having a little nibble at his ankles.

    Seems quite strong - but it his sheer composure that stands out for me. But your probably right - if you put Essien's style of play & mentality in Mikels body, he'd be in the UNIT hall-of-fame, no doubt.

    Never doubted his talent - just his attitude & application. Jose seems to have sorted him right out over the course of this season. Bye-bye Maka.

    don't know why chelsea are wasting him in the holding role, he's just far too talented to be restricted to that role. People say chelsea lack creativeity in the final third, i feel he can provide that. Essien(who's far better defensively) should be used in the holding role and Mikel( their most creative CM ) should be used in a more attacking role. He can dictate the pace of games from there and am sure will also get them goals and assists.

    Yeah, seen Mikel play a more attacking midfield role a few times for a poor Nigerian side, he is far more effective, great touch, good vision and decent shooting (scored a nice goal from edge of the box last ANC). Playing in this Chelsea side he probably gets a fine each time he has a shot. Should have joined Utd.

    It's clear what I meant, he has virtually no creative license in such a negative set-up, and stays deep, playing within himself so as not upset the balance of the rigid system, I'm sure his instructions are effectively look long for Drogba, do not dwell, do not dribble and stay as close to the half-way line as possible when we are in possession.

    i saw mikel at the under 20s where he was the star along side messi and he also dominated in the anc and it is clear to me that he doesnt get much freedom in chelsea. i hope he will a role like roy keane had for chelsea instead of just sweeping up for the others.

    Although Yesterday's match was nothing much to get exited about - it wasn't as bad as the C.L Semi-Final between Liverpool & Chelsea.

    So you have 2 semi final games where both teams tried to win the tie - so many chances created - both keepers put on MOTM performances to keep their respective teams in the tie - had goals - add to that the drama of a penalty shootout....

    And then you have a Cup final with 120 mins of football with 1 real chance/moment of brilliance in extra time to set up the winning goal.

    All I'm saying is that I don't see why people are still going on about the semi final, I was there and I actually thought it was an OK game, sure it wasn't a 3-3 thriller but the atmosphere was fantastic and it was a game that meant so much, so why must we constantly talk about how boring it was, why cant we talk about Liverpool-Milan instead?
