formation is pretty set, not 100% if maldini or inzaghi will play though although it is likely

God knows with Liverpool.
The back four and keeper are set in stone.
Masch and Gerrard will definatley start, apart from that you can't be 100% sure, though at a guess
------------Reina-------------
Finnan--Carra---Agger----Riise
------------Masch------------
Pennant----Gerrard-----Kewell
--------Crouch--Kuyt------
I think this squad has more of a chance than Man Utd - playing a dedicated DM should help to shackle Kaka.
Both Pennant and Kewell (if fit) will add width and some real dnager from crossing and Crouch and Kuyt are both aerially adept.
Gerrard will also bomb forward and pick up any of the knock downs from the front two

I think Maldini will be fit
I don't understand why Carlo would want to play Gila over Pippo, Pippo is one of the leading goal scorers in CL history, where as Gila is just pants.

IMO Pippo has better finishing than Gila as well...but then it seems like Pippo will be brought in as a supersub

That defence -
--------Pepe
Finnan---Carra---Agger---Riise
With Mascherano, Pennant, Kewell, Gerrard, Crouch in front with either Alonso or Kuyt.
Alonso and then push Gerrard behind the striker, Kuyt and play Gerrard in central midfield.

What about Xabi Alonso...is he fit to play...Liverpool could use some experience for such a crucial gameTweedle wrote:God knows with Liverpool.

Xabi is fit, but Benitez seems to prefer Gerrard-Masch in the centre.
Alonso doesn't impose himself on the game that much to be honest and can sometimes go very invisible

Kewell is Liverpool's lucky charm in Cup Finals , plays .. then gets injured, then Liverpool win on penalties.

I've said before I think alonso is a great passer but too slow and not athletic/energetic enough for the EPL, he like carrick, pirlo etc need a certain type of player alongside them against the top midfields, that's why he and sissoko were a good partnership. He would be better suited to serie A.

Kewell played part of the last game of the season and looked in fine form tobe fair - can seem him starting myself.
@110%
I'd agree - he is great in a 5 man midfield but this season Benitez has been opting for a four man midfield more and more and physically, Alonso isn't up to it - why I see him maybe being sold in the summer -would be a great buy for a top team too

The third formation means we are really relying on kewell or gerrard to score though. we will be able to maintain possession better probably but kuyt isn't exactly a clincial striker in the box so it could result in a lot of decent football with little end product
with the first formation the midfield is compact to counter milan's compact midfield and gerrard and kewell can both provide excellent crosses to crouch. i think we would carry a bigger goal threat
but I would be happy with any of the three above if im being honest. I just can't see him starting with
pennant...gerrard...mascha..kewell
as most are predicting. it's a bit risky for benitez to go so attacking

I have a feeling it'll be COTR's first option with Crouch and Kuyt up front. I definitely think he'll want Crouh in there cause MIlan haven't been great at defending set pieces this season and it'd be interestig to see how they'll handle him.
The only real problem to going to Crouch will be to see how the ref handles it. Crouch is still pretty naive when it comes to using his height effectively and a savvy defender can often make it look like he's fouling every time the ball is played into him regardless of whether it's true or not.

Finnan..............Carragher..................Agger................Riise/Arbeloa
Gerrard/Pennant.......Xabi Alonso...........Mascherano...........Kewell/Riise
..............................Kuyt.....................Crouch/Bellamy
If Pennant starts, then it's Gerrard floating behind Kuyt/Crouch. I'm curious to see whether Rafa puts Gerrard again in central midfield against Milan.
Milan are set and ready to go. Only question is Maldini's fitness, but Kaladze can cover for him. I'd probably start Gilardino!

Quite right. This will be the starting line-up unless Ancelotti springs a major surprise.
