Billionaire Buys Newcastle

I think he will have full control well before the end of July tbh. 10% of the shares are owned by fans, and FT announced today that he's already bought them, which would take him over 50%, and 20% are owned by institutional shareholders who will probably sell accept his offer after they meet him sometime next week. Freddy is the only one that is likely to drag his heels.

Apparently he's willing to put £270m into the team over the next few seasons, he wants us challenging for the title in 3 years, and challenging for the CL within 5 years. Don't laugh!

I would've thought some of that money would go into wiping out the clubs debt though.

Surely when he takes over, he'll automatically wipe the clubs debt?

If not, the investment he's willing to make is superb.

Is it 100% set now that he'll be buying out the club? would be really sad if after all this it didn't go through.

Pretty much, FT have announced that he's already over the 50% mark after buying the shares held by supporters. He's meeting the rest of the board members next week, including Fat Fred who may drag his heels. It's thought that he'll easily reach 70%, but he'll need fat freds share to delist the club.

Why would Fred kick up such a fuss. The guys clearly an idiot - if he was a true fan he's sell his share as an investment on this level would without doubt be a step forward for the club

It's likely we'll ask for Parker in return, it depends on what Allardyce wants to do I suppose, I think Parker will go if Allardyce says he'd let him...though Big Sam would be silly to let him go IMO.

Fat Fred is apparently ready to sell his shares for £37m But he will be kept on as chairman - probably just to oversee things until Ashley can get a suitable replacement.

Yeh, saw an article in the paper about this today.

Hopefully it moves forward quickly so that Allardyce gets the chance to make the signings he'd like to before the season gets going

How do you feel about all this now? 6 managers in less than three years suggests Ashley is more than a bit clueless. Also, the promised investment in the team never happened.
