We will see what Inter does this season. It was a no contest in the previous one but with the big clubs back without the point penalties, we shall see how they perform. I have strong doubts. They simply are not there when it comes to Europe...Mancini is to amateur.

Re: Spare a thought for Inter
You do realise that most of these media that you keep quoting are owned by your president Berlusconi??
There is NOTHING new in all this. EVERY year, for the last 2 decades, there are rumours about rifts at Inter, a media circus about discipline problems, etc... its all a stupid immature propaganda by the Berlusconi & Co. Inters players, coach, preseident, etc are always misquoted - you just need to look at the actual quotes at Inter.it to realise how badly they have been twisted and misquoted by the media.
Apparently Ibra only said that the organisation at Juve was better, and that Inter need to improve in this area. Ibra has an oversized ego and can be a c**t, but I don't see anything wrong with these comments.
And neither Ibra nor Ancellotti nor anyone has said that Ibra wants to join Milan... media have apparently "assumed" its Ibra!! Ridiculous. Berlusconi, grow up.

Ibra wants Milan move!
Sunday 27 May, 2007
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has approached Milan to ask for a transfer, hints Carlo Ancelotti. “Nobody would suspect him. If I reveal his name, it’ll be chaos…”
It was no secret that the Rossoneri were close to signing former Juventus man Ibra last summer, but because they had to wait until their Champions League preliminary round was completed to know their strategy, Inter got there first.
Now that he has been a key figure in the Nerazzurri’s Scudetto triumph and Milan are champions of Europe, there are claims he wants to move on.
“Many champions have approached us. They all want us now,” smiled Ancelotti in yesterday’s Press conference.
“That includes one player who is totally above suspicion. If I reveal his name, it’ll be chaos…”
The newspapers this morning all agree on one thing – that man is Inter hero Ibrahimovic.
Already linked with Real Madrid, the real reason for his contract renegotiation problems is a desire to cross the city like Ronaldo, Andrea Pirlo and Clarence Seedorf before him.
The Swede has reportedly asked for a substantial pay increase from the current £4m per season to at least £5.5m.
He also bitterly criticised the club this week, comparing them unfavourably to the disgraced Juventus side led by Luciano Moggi.
“My agent is currently negotiating a wage increase at Inter. I hope Massimo Moratti is as decisive now as when he signed me,” explained the former Ajax man.
“At Juve, they were a lot clearer on certain things. Moggi was removed because we won too much. It was all jealousy. When I arrived at Inter, the first thing I advised Moratti was to bring in Luciano and change their mentality. Luckily, we won anyway…
“They are two great teams, but that Juve had something more. There was a sense of cohesion that still isn’t present at Inter,” he told ‘Libero’ newspaper.
“Last year when someone played badly, the other teammates lifted him up. Here it is the opposite – whoever plays below par drags the rest of the squad down with him. Inter are still learning what it takes to be at the top.”
This transfer story could bring relations between the two ‘cugini’ to an all-time low. Matters are already extremely tense after the clubs insulted each other at a distance during their trophy celebrations.

Re: Spare a thought for Inter
While some of these chants and banners are fine - in the spirit of the rivalry, and in the heat of the moment - I think the Milan celebrations took it a bit too far... shows just how bitter Milan players are about getting beaten up badly by Inter this season.
This should have been a celebration of winning a 7th CL, instead it resembled a "mine is bigger" shouting competition
And I still keep hearing these excuses about a 8 point penalty... its so silly, you could have used that if you finished 1 or 2 points behind Inter, but Milan finished 36 points behind Inter!!! For the english, thats the difference between ManU and Blackburn. For the spanish, thats more than the difference between Real and 4th from bottom Bilbao!!
So stop justifying, and enjoy your win! Learn from Pirlo.

I doubt Liverpool players would hold a similar banner if they won the CL towards Manchester United (who won the English League Championship)
I know Serie A may not have been as strong as previous years , but holding such a banner is irresponsible and Milan apologised and as Gattuso said a get together by both club captains to ease the tension and put it to rest.

Fact: Milan upstaged Inter this season.
Once again you're the second best club in Italy.
Fact: Milan players were very wrong to rub it in.
But once again, your president is no better.

I dunno how you got that fact... as far as I know, Inter are BY A DISTANCE the best club in Italy this season.
As for your second fact, read Moratti's comments - he is the only one who has said that he didn't mind the milan banners and chanting, its all in the spirit of the rivalry.
I find it quite ironic that Milan fans/players have the audacity to point fingers at our President.... people who live in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones at others

Coz he was born with the money?
While most Inter fans (including me) critizise Moratti for being so naive and foolish at times, we all are quite fond of our Presidente... all players also seem to love and respect him, even after they leave Inter.... coz Moratti is more like a fan than a president... he is Inters first fan, he is one of us!
Its a bond most fans don't have with their club president...

Why is everybody Inter and Milan chucking stones? Does it really matter sematically who is best? Both sets of players took the piss o8ut of the others - so what? The overreaction from both sides has been hysterical, and i hope this incident doesn't spoil the relationship between the clubs.
Shouldn't we be celebrating that Milan the city is the centre of the football universe this season, and that Italy as a nation has virtually made a sweep up of EVERYTHING - helped by players from the Milan clubs; Materazzi, Pirlo, Gattuso, Inzaghi, Gilardino, Nesta, Oddo.
Champions League, World Cup, World Player of the Year, Balon d'Or, Golden Shoe, plus we even gatecrashed the new Wembley of the English with first goal, fastest goal, first hattrick etc.
Inter - fantastic achievement in the league and fully deserved.
Milan - fantastic achievement in Europe and fully deserved.
Milan - Football capital of Europe
I am Proud to be a Milanese and a Lombardian.

Good post, Pirlo. I doubt all these tensions will result in any physical fan clashes during the next derby... that never happens in Milan, and never will. Yeah, the tension will be higher than usual now, Italian Champions vs European Champions, the verbal insults exchanged will be harsher, the bragging rights worth more, but it will be an otherwise peaceful game, I am sure of it.

back in the old days ('50-'70) in Milano Inter was the team of "bauscia" (rich bourgeois) while Milan was the team of "casciavit" (literally "screwdrivers", working class people).
Wonder which team a wannabe rich like Berlusconi would rather support? =)
When Berlusconi wanted to enter the football arena in the eighties, Inter had a relatively healthy president while Milan were in big troubles. So it was much easier for him to acquire Milan, and he went for it.
While I regret about the great success he could have brought to Inter, in the end I'm quite happy he didn't become our president.
I'm a letfy and I hate Berlusconi for what he did to our country, I've many friends who support Milan because their left wing fathers were milanista, and they are all ashamed about having Silvio as a president, despite all the honours he brought 'em =)

Quite right. I read about this as well. Milan was always a left-wing club until Berlu bought it.
I am also a lefty, and I have many reservations about Berlu the poltician. But as a president he has been great.

I know Milan is a left wing club, and still is in some ways (FDL was left -wing while BRN is right wing). But the right - wing part was still there before Berlusconi came (again BRN was there before he came to Milan).
PS: I understand how they feal. Steaua's onwer is a right - wing extremist and nationalist. His party has about 14-16 % and will probabli get in the parliament. As Steaua's president he had the bigest success after 1990 but 80% of our fans hates him.

Re: Spare a thought for Inter
Obviously you were not at the last derby where I saw milan fans attacking inter fans? Of course the Inter fans were stupid for celebrating goals while sitting in the Milan section but to say there is no violence amongst the fans is plain wrong.
Some places they might not segregate for a derby, but for the milan-inter one it is absolutely necessary.
bluenine wrote:Good post, Pirlo. I doubt all these tensions will result in any physical fan clashes during the next derby... that never happens in Milan, and never will. Yeah, the tension will be higher than usual now, Italian Champions vs European Champions, the verbal insults exchanged will be harsher, the bragging rights worth more, but it will be an otherwise peaceful game, I am sure of it.Pirlo wrote:Why is everybody Inter and Milan chucking stones?
