He scored quite a few in Spain, 8 goals I think. Good player but not CL quality (yet)

It's unfortunate that they lost patience with Gonzalez so quickly, esp. like someone said in the Liverpool thread, they loaned him out, waited for all the work permit problems and what not, and now want to get rid again.
I wonder if Luis still disagrees with me calling Benitez's Liverpool a revolving door...

If they aint good enough, sell them

People are forgetting one thing about Gonzalez...
Liverpool have training sessions nearly every day, so the coaches and management have a much better judgement of players than we do. We're basing our assumptions about Gonzalez' potential on a few games, whereas they are basing theirs on the countless training sessions we have. If he isn't as good as they (the management) thought he was, selling him is fair. I hope he proves himself at Betis.

We didn't. I didn't anyway, I saw him a few times for Sociedad last season, he was tremendous, especially against madrid, I had high hopes but like a lot of players he couldn't handle the pace and physicality of the English league

This is not a dig at Liverpool but maybe Gonzalez would do better in a more attack minded team, with a free role, not having to track back, etc.
I think he would do better in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 system.

Gonzalez is a pace mercant who has a decent delivery, nothing more. His performance against Madrid is far too hyped, for what it was. He had a decent season with Sociedad, but was hardly set the league alight. There was a reason why none of the better Spanish teams showed interest in him.
