mascherano hasn't really been any better than sissoko has been performing for us over the past few years. one of the things that bugs me the most actually is the idiots coming along and saying 'I told you he was $h!t all along'. he wasn't and he isn't. mascherano is just a better player than him

the key difference though is that mascherano has the ability to aid our hopeful transition from a great team to title winners whereas with sissoko our fluidity may not be as good in the middle. it's a tough decision to make for rafa because sissoko is a monster of a midfield player and must surely be a hard player to let go from a squad. but mascherano has his place and lucas can be the 'happy' backup for him. Im pretty certain rafa does not want to sell however if juve for example tested his resolve with anything above 6 million he would have a tough choice to make because that money is needed to strengthen much weaker areas than midfield

He's been linked with Man United & Milan.

    Why would he leave Barca?

Meh. He's said that he wants to stay at Barca for another season, but he would also like to play for Liverpool.

Barca are probably holding a gun to his head.

    Laugh

Far from. In fact, I think the comments you find allegedly from him in the papers today are just "creative" rehashes of old comments he's made before. His most recent comments on his future were during a publicity event last week, when, even though no journalist asked him any kind of question about whether he'll stay at Barcelona next season, he suddenly stated quite forcefully that he will stay next year, and not just because he has a contract.

I should add - I don't know why, but I'm starting to get this feeling that something may happen with Villa this summer. But if anything does, you'll have to fight Chelsea (and possibly Man. Utd. and/or Milan) tooth and nail.

Just a gut feeling, but let's see how the summer develops...

    from redcafe

    Liverpool's first "big" signings
Are two young Hungarian players, Krisztián Németh(18.) and András Simon(17.), they signed for five years. Both go to the reserves straightly.

Németh is a decent goalpoacher at Hungarian level, but nothing else - he's not Premier League quality and never will be. Simon hasn't had a single senior game, so I can't comment on him. It is believed that Németh costed Liverpool around two million pounds -another senseless Rafa buy.

I meant the story about you signing these two players is true, i don't know if there any good.

    From The Times:

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is making two Hungarian teenagers his first pieces of business since his infamous rant at the club's American owners last week.

The Times says Benitez's priority may be to find players who will turn Liverpool into genuine title contenders, but that has not prevented the Spaniard from planning for the future, with Andras Simon and Krisztian Nemeth, two young strikers, arriving on long-term contracts from MTK Hungaria.

Simon is a year younger than Nemeth, 18, who caught the eye during last year's Under-17 European Championship finals.

Liverpool have moved swiftly to bolster their reserve ranks by agreeing deals to sign Hungarian pair Krisztian Nemeth and Andras Simon from MTK Hungaria.
    Nemeth, Krisztian

Nemeth, 18, and Simon, 17, appeared for Hungary in last year's UEFA Under-17 Championships.

The duo are both strikers, although Nemeth also plays in midfield.

Crespo tells Liverpool, Chelsea: Sign Tevez, win title

Hernan Crespo says Argentina pal Carlos Tevez will win the Premiership title next season - wherever he goes.
Liverpool have Tevez, valued at £25million, on their wish list, while Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal are interested, as well as Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

Chelsea striker Crespo, who wants to stay with Inter Milan, told the Mirror: "Carlos has shown he can adapt. He has all the qualities to become a champion. The team which buys him instantly has the conditions to win their championship.

"Not only can he score goals, he can also fight for what he believes in."

West Ham dazzler Tevez has intimated in recent days he wants to continue his career in England.
