Mark Gonzalez will leave Liverpool for Betis. It hasn't been announced officially (incl. details of price, etc.) because he's at the Copa America right now.

I was eagerly looking forward to see how Gonzalez did at Liverpool, but yet again, it was one of those La Liga failures in the Premiership. Hope he does better at Betis....think they could be back pushing for Europe next season with a few useful signings.

I think he'll be brilliant for them if the new manager (Cuper deal still not done) plays him right. Remember how he single-handedly kept Sociedad up? That was an amazing season of performances from him.

Perhaps that says more about your managers than it does about those players. You aren't exactly renowned for giving players a chance to adapt. I believe it has been admitted that some improved towards the end of the season, but were shipped out anyway. I have heard that applied to Samuel. Will be interesting to see if Cannavaro stays. Would you agree that he needed time to adapt, but towards the end of te season his performances improved and that he has belatedly adapted. Cambiaso is an example of a player you should not have given up on so easily. He is class at Inter.

yes it is very much true and all this serie to la liga is a bit of hyph when you consider they only get one season to show their worth. esp at Real were everything is hectic. Samuel as you said improved in the end and the same with cannavaro. i always rated cambiasso as the assistant to makelele but never thought he would be that good. i dont mind about him though i think that coming to inter was what he needed.EMP wrote:Mexicanbecks wrote:better?Mexicanbecks wrote:EMP wrote:kas wrote:They're after Toldo now.

Re: Top European Clubs - Transfer Tracker!
Edmilson hasn't left! And definitely not on a free.
Sam Allardyce and Shepherd's son will talk to Barcelona tomorrow with their offer, but there's no certainty whether we'll accept it or not.
Also, Madrid got 6 million euros for Diego Lopez (4 million pounds).

If that's true, I can fully understand why we didn't bid for him.

This is ridiculous! Normally there is a reasonably small range of suggested prices, so far I've seen £16m, £8.5m, £6m, £5m and 4m quoted. I would hope we haven't payed £16m because that is a big gamble, and £4m seems too cheap for someone of his quality. Somewhere inbetween the two figures would be fine.

Re: Top European Clubs - Transfer Tracker!
Zagreb were very reluctant to sell him, because they want to qualify for the CL and need his goals. That's why he must have been expensive, and the reason why we wanted to sign him in the winter break.
We've been interested in him for years, the typical Werder way to scout players over a long period of time, and have a couple of alternatives for each position. He is a great talent, and since Wenger knows how to deal with young talent, he should be a good signing for you guys.

@Kimbo:
Of course, 3 million is what we should get for him IMO. We signed him for about 6 million, and in that time he's won the CL and 2 Liga titles, and been a crucial member of the starting 11. You're also getting a Brazil international...ok the issue of injuries is there, but I think 3m is more than reasonable.
@Bluenine:
It's not even confirmed that he'll leave, be it to Newcastle or somewhere else. There were recent comments from Txiki saying we will keep Edmilson.

He's 31 and is out until new year with a serious injury, plaus he doesn't seem to be part of Barcas plans. I don't see how you can ask for more than £1m tbh.
