Channel 4 is a replicator of news... so far in the last 3-4 weeks, they have claimed that Chivu is about to join Inter (3-4 times), Barca (3-4 times), and now Real... just yesterday, they claimed that Roma will not deal with Real coz of their understanding with Barca!!

So don't believe everything they "suggest".

Quite franking, I am sick of this Chivu saga... I hope it gets over soon, this way or that.

From what I can understand the Zagreb president was trying to say that the money for the deal came from selling Henry and made it sound like we had spent all the money from the Henry deal on Eduardo. I think the general consensus is that we spent £7.5-8m on him, although it is still undisclosed so no one is entirely sure.

It's Barcas fault the move didn't happen.

I had heard Geremi is leaving Chelsea for Newcastle, possibly on a free. Has this been confirmed yet?

Yes it's confirmed. The transfer was free from Chelsea's perspective. ie. Newcastle didn't pay them, but apparently Newcastle gave Geremi a 2m signing on fee

Then the list needs updating to reflect that Geremi has left Chelsea. What is Barca saying regarding Edmilson?

Apparently Newcastle offered 1million pounds, but insisted that we keep Edmilson and pay for his treatment till he is fully recovered. That's probably why we rejected it - his contract expires next summer and so we lose him on a free in January. Accepting 1.5 million euros from Newcastle is a paltry sum, and having to pay for his treatment/operations till November means that not only will the deal not mean much financially, we'll also lose the additional 6 months of service we could get from him.


So right now it seems like matters are closed on that front, and Edmilson will stay.

So United have spent the most from the big 4 so far, with Liverpool second, Arsenal 3rd and Chelsea have yet to pay any real money.
