    Klose?? Empty Klose??

Post by bluenine Wed Jun 13, 2007 3:34 pm

I am shocked that Bayern offered only EUR 10 M for Klose, and now have been waiting for 2 weeks for Werder to give in.

There are so many clubs looking for a top goal scoring striker (Milan, Juve, ManU, etc) and I am really surprised that no one has made a bid for Klose....

Juve just paid around EUR 13M for Iaquinta, and Inter shelled out EUR 10 M for Suazo... ManU spent ridiculous amounts on some kids.

And no one went after Klose?? One of the top strikers in the world?? Scorer of 10 goals in world cup competitions!!! He is not too old either....

Am I missing something?? I would have thought that many clubs would have gladly paid in the range of EUR 15-20M for klose...

For fear of a backlash from Otto, Blut & co. Very Happy

There must be something our managers know that we don't know. Maybe he won't fit into the systems or want to move from Germany etc.

Because it is an odd one.

bluenine, check out this thread (scroll down) for an explanation. Bayern lure Klose with an outrageous wage they are willing to pay him. Bayern want to pay him a lot of money, but not his club, their main rival. This is nothing new, but the dirty tricks that went on in the last few months have a new quality.

Other clubs were seriously interested, Barcelona, for example, but Bayern simply offer him a higher wage.

    bluenine is right

    something is weird

it's not just about the money, as blut suggests

read the English papers, which print 99% fake speculation , and everybody is linked with Liverpool and Co, except German players

there was talk of Farfan, Forlan, Huntelaar, Villa, Torres ... moving to the EPL for £18 + million

Liverpool were said to target Eto'O for £40 +

most of this is made up

but NOBODY is talking about Klose and Co

    it's clearly anti-German as well as anti-Bundesliga

our lads are off the radar ( I fear deliberately by the press; or through sheer cultural bias on the part of Benitez, Ancelotti...)

    these people are all RACISTS

Because you dont play teams like Saud Arabia in the top leagues, to boost his goal tally. Wink

I think it may be, because he hasnt had a great season and didnt do anything in the CL. For the price he is going for, he would be a bargain.

It is strange how no one really wants him, were as players like Torres are rated really highly and are being touted for £25m.

Come on otto, that's just nonsense. Barcelona was seriously interested in Klose and Jansen, but Bayern simply paid more, in addition to their name and prestige in Germany. Juve was seriously interested in Frings and Klose, and other German players like Lahm, Schweinsteiger etc. have caught the attention of foreign clubs also. Even Borowski, who was injured all season, is wanted by Fiorentina, for example.

There are a ton of other examples.

From what I had heard, Inter had Klose & Toni marked as targets if Chelsea had taken Crespo back... but since Crespo got confirmed, we already have 2 strikers of similar characteristics... Mancio wants different characteristics in the other 3 strikers... I guess thats the only reason why Inter are not moving for Klose.

But why Milan or Juve are not moving for him, I just cannot understand. Even ManU, Klose would be a perfect partner for Rooney... he si much better than Saha ok

I dont think we have ever signed a German player, during my time as a united fan (15 years). Although he did try and sign Ballack to help us regain the premiership, fortunately for us he chose Chelsea, so in a way he did help us regain the premiership.

It's not that black and white, Bluenine.

We don't need someone with a big name or the best stats. We just need someone who will fit into our system. Maybe Fergie doesn't see Klose as the answer.

Saha is injured all the time anyway so of course people are going to be better when compared. When he's fit and firing though he fits into our system brilliantly. He was one of our best player for the first half of last season.

If it was up to me, I'd swap him with Saha (and a bit of cash), because everyone at the club is fed up with him, not because of his footballing abilities.

But before you mention it, Smith would be stretching it.

From what i heard, he is not going to be fit before december...

While you are right, players need to fit systems/strategies, there are some positions which fit ALL strategies.... for example:

    - WC goal keeper (eg: Buffon can walk into any team)
    - WC Ball winning DM who can pass (Eissen/Cambiasso/etc)
    - WC holding CB (Nesta, Rio, Carvalho, Chivu, etc)
    - WC complete box striker (Toni, Klose, Eto'o, etc).

Doesn't matter what startegy you have... if you don't have one of the above, you want one.

No I meant in the sense that Klose can do everything Saha can but that bit better IMO. THey're very similar strikers, but Klose is clearly the better one - and that's even before you consider injury proneness.
