i would prefer we used de la red instead of signing zapater and i would gladly give 18 mil for milito. of course that would prob mean a new parterneship in defence since canna would be gone i suppose.
i must admit that i have kept on saying that kaka wouldnt come but now with all the drama im starting to believe it. stupid papers.

One of the 3 players who Calderon mentioned, may be Heinze.

We should have four central midfield players: assuming Diarra stays and Emerson goes we would only have Diarra and Gago. Add Zapater and De la Red and we have our four. Of course if it came down to choosing, I would give De la Red the chance first. ok

Personally I would be happy if we got Heinze. I thought he was amazing in his first season with ManU, but his injury severely hampered last season. Also, it was tough for him to get a lot of minutes due to Evra's great form.

Like i said he would be a decent buy, but not a long term one.

5M pounds, for 12M we could get Puerta Very Happy

Yes, Puerta is better, but I think Heinze would be a good short term solution and would be much cheaper. Heinze is 29, and we could use him for 2 seasons while Marcelo develops in another team and is ready to take over the left wing. We also have Torres as backup in case Heinze doesn't work out. I just don't see the point in spending a lot of money on Puerta when we have two great LBs in Marcelo and Torres.

I'm still unsure about using a right footed left back.. Yikes

If he were to come up against a classy winger he would be ripped apart..

Marcelo - only time will tell.

Zambrotta and Lahm do quite nicely on the left. ok Torres is a great option, part of the reason I don't want Heinze is because I'd rather give Torres a chance. The only player that really gave Torres fits last season was Messi, and, well he terrorizes just about everyone. When he is not cheating that is...

Agreed. And on top of that, it's fair to say that Torres is about as two-footed as a player gets. He's very good at crossing with his left foot and I didn't see him run into trouble against any winger bar Messi, as Jaime mentioned.

That being said, the problem I see with buying no LB is that we would either be stuck with Torres and Marcelo, or Torres and Bravo. The latter option is unacceptable since Bravo is Cr@p. And I think it would be unwise to have 2 inexperienced LBs with no one else in our squad. For all we know, Torres may get "2nd season syndrome" which would be understandable, and if we have no experienced replacement we could run into a lot of trouble.

Heinze is too slow to be a succesfull left back for u guys. He is very weak when the ball is played behind him, teams with fast wingers or forwards can exploit that.

All good points -- but then the question is do we want to pay 7.5m for a backup? If it is Schuster, I'd like him to bring Javi Paredes from Getafe along with him. Good experience in first division, can also play on the right, and is one of our ex-youth team players. ok

Haven't seen enough of Paredes to say if he would be a proper replacement. I'm just in favor of bringing in an experienced LB for next season, loaning out Marcelo and getting rid of Bravo. On top of that, the LB shouldn't be too expensive (like Puerta would be) since I believe that in 2 or 3 seasons, we would have the LB position well covered with Marcelo and Torres.

So according to AS the directors have a plan A and a plan B with respect to signings this summer.

Plan A: Kaka, Metzelder, Saviola, Makelele, Henize, Dudek

Basically this involves spending almost everything on Kaka and then getting free and/or cheap players. The thing is, with this play, we still haven't addressed the right wing, and it adds yet another second striker to compound the overbooking problem at that position (Raul, Higuain, Cassano, and Julio Baptista). Plus it brings in a sh!t reserve goalkeeper. And Makelele? WTF?

Plan B: Mancini, Dani Alves, Robben, Cesc, Metzelder

So this would be the better plan in my opinion because it actually addresses the biggest needs of the team (help for the wings and a midfield organizer). I still think Dani Alves is a waste of our time (AS suggest Sevilla will begin negotiating around 30m. euro) but the other signings I would be happy with.
