TOP LEAGUES IN THE WORLD
Looks like Lalas has left a lot of assholes burning with his latest interview. He says the MLS is one of the best leagues around the world. He obviously was just selling the league using English media to send his message around the world. YOU rank the best leagues from around the world. Here's my list:
#1 La Liga, #2 Serie A, then EPL, Brasil, France, México, Argentina, Germany, Portugal, Netherlands, Colombia, Russia, Belgium, Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay, Scotland, Perú, Ukraine, Turkey, Greece, Czechia, MLS, Bulgaria, Switzerland. That's it, my top 25 leagues from around the world.

I'm not pro EPL at all, i've been the most critical person on the board when it comes to non top 4 teams, La Liga pisses on us in terms of strength in depth.

Serie A above the EPL? how did you work that one out?
You've also put Portugal far too low down.
I don't think you can rate leagues in that way, its easier to put them into classes - first rung, 2nd rund, third rung etc..

I get that - I think you'll find that Serie A hasn't done too hotly in the UEFA cup this season though - the EPL at least managed to get three teams in the last 16.
The top 3 ebb and flow though, next season it could all be different

Well, you are biased and pro-EPL as hell, but there are still some things we will agree on...
I am sure if we discuss how much difference is there between EPL and Serie A, we will have a 1000 things we disagree upon! Coz I don't think there are much of a difference between the top 3 leagues last season...

Re: TOP LEAGUES IN THE WORLD
Tweedy, if you look back at the team roosters in the last 10 years, you will realise that Italian teams gradually but surely stopped taking UEFA Cup seriously ever since the CWC was scrapped and the CL was formed.... so your arguement is totally flawed, coz you are comparing the top starting XIs of EPL and La Liga in UEFA Cup against reserves of the Italian teams...

Well they should
The Italian cup is hardly worth competing for.
At least in the EPL you have the FA cup and the Worthington Cup (which is taken as seriously as the Italian cup)
Italians have no excuse for not taking the UEFA cup seriously

I really like the Argentine league, there's real passion and quality there. Brasil is a little slow for my liking, but the league's results speak for itself.

I'm flattered. A few years ago people were saying we were similar to the "european third division", so I'll look at this as a promotion

Re: TOP LEAGUES IN THE WORLD
I'll agree that the Uefa Cup is the only way to judge the depth of a leauge in comparison with others.
When Portuguese clubs crash and burn in the UC it shows the leauge isn't that strong past the top 3... same for other leagues.
With Boavista and Braga recently doing well, it shows the battle at the top is much more divided. If smaller clubs are pushing to win titles then the big 3 need to put together real squads and not just assume the others will defeat themselves over the course of a season.

Re: TOP LEAGUES IN THE WORLD
I am not disagreeing in general... just that you can't use it to measure Italain teams coz they just do not take the competition seriously... most just put in their reserves teams, some take it seriously until they run into rough weather in Serie A, and then put in reserves... its treated like a micky mouse trophy... they only care about qualifying for it coz that gets them a share of teh tv revenues from uefa...
Hopefully Fiorentina will change that trend next season, coz they have the squad to play in 2-3 championships.... but I wouldn't be too hopeful, their first priority will clearly be Serie A.
So how can you judge Serie A depth by uefa cup performance??

Brazilian League is going downhill since 2003, but we had all brazilian finals in the 2005 and 2006 Copa Libertadores. So I guess South American football level is even worse, including Argentina.
