    Post by christmasborocooper Sun Oct 04, 2009 9:43 pm

    Goalkeepers:Paul Robinson (Blackburn), Robert Green (West Ham), David James (Portsmouth)

    Defenders: Ashley Cole (Chelsea), John Terry (Chelsea), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Wayne Bridge (Manchester City), Joleon Lescott (Manchester City), Wes Brown (Manchester United), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Matthew Upson (West Ham)

    MidfieldersJames Milner (Aston Villa), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), David Beckham (Los Angeles Galaxy), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Gareth Barry (Manchester City), Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham); Gabriel Agbonlahor (Aston Villa)

    Strikers:Emil Heskey (Aston Villa), Peter Crouch (Tottenham), Carlton Cole (West Ham), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)

    Ridiculous headline on the BBC site "Walcott left out of England squad"..like everyone was expecting him back in after less than a half in a game that was won?

    Dont know why Agbonhlar is in the midfield section.

    Is Willem Dafoe injured? And what has Bent got to do to fuck off that donkey Heskey?

    Yeah I think Defoe has fucked his hand up or something?

    Bent needs to put on about 3 stone to get in the squad I think.

    Defoe only damaged his hand. He played the last 30 minutes yesterday.

    Bent, for all his goals, is USELESS at holding up the ball, so cannot be direct swap for Heskey. Cole would make more sense

    Interestingly,

    this must be the first time in years that so many English strikers are hitting so many goals at this stage of the Prem:

    Carlton Cole, Rooney, Bent, Agbonlahor, Defoe have all scored 4 or more times this season already in the league.

    Ferdinand, Gerrard, Lampard and Rooney will all withdraw with injury in the next few days so there's still hope for a few of the missing players

    BBC piece says Foster injured. Probably just a typical Man Utd/Liverpool pre-friendly injury, mind.

    Good to see Gabby get another go, thought he did well in his England debut and he's having good season so far.

    Yea Bent definitely deserves a callup. Not a huge fan, but no worse than Heskey or Cole in his current form, but like boro suggests, he's probably not 'big' enough.

    Would be picking Baines over Bridge too.

    Ukraine vs England will not be on TV apparently.

    The only way you can watch it is online, on a stream..from some company called Perform. You'll have to pay about £5 "at least" so say the BBC.

    Fuck.
    That.

    Anyone who doesnt have a good internet connection will be fucked as well.

    England travel to Ukraine for their final away World Cup Qualifier in Group Six on Saturday 10th October - and you can watch all the action live at bet365.

    The game will not be shown anywhere on UK television but bet365 will be Live Streaming the match absolutely free for all customers with a funded account, so you can still follow Fabio Capello's men on the road to South Africa.

    Prefer that option if any.

    Hope Capello starts Cole on Saturday. I honestly think he's got a genuine chance of playing his way into the starting line up for the WC.

    Looking at his attributes, he's a better footballer than Heskey. I'd like to see him given some time with Rooney to see if they work as a partnership.

    Cole is very talented.

    David Dunn needs to go at least half the season without an injury.

    Not really much point comparing Cole and Bent either. One is a good quality target man. The other is a good quality goal scorer.

    With their powers combined, I am Captain Planet.

    cheers

    Steven Gerrard has been ruled out of the World Cup qualifier against Belarus after being unable to finish the training session with England today. He walked off with the physiotherapist, Gary Lewin, midway through the session while the rest of the squad carried on. The midfielder will now sit out the game against Belarus and could also be forced to miss Liverpool's game at Sunderland at the weekend.

    I'm at the game cheers

    It's completely empty, the stadium looks wonderful before the great unwashed arrive.

    As I arrived Pierre's favourite Leonard Nimoy look-a-like was holding court, taking the piss out of John Terry's habit of replying "yeah yeah definitely" when asked a question. I pointed out that perhaps it would be an idea to ask a question that doesn't offer the opportunity for a yes/no answer. He told me to get my hair cut, I called him a c***t and left to get some mash.

    While I was getting my mash that guy who looks like a lesbian version of Fabio Capello pushed in front of me to help himself to more veggies. I was too busy watching Mark Lawrenson dripping gravy down his shirt to say anything.

    The mash was really filling and now I'm craving a smoke Grr

    line-up is as predicted

    Foster;
    Johnson, Ferdinand, Terry, Bridge;
    Lennon, Barry, Lampard, Wright-Phillips;
    Crouch, Agbonlawhor.

    only 3 of those would start in my ideal England team

    doesn't make me too confident about our strength in depth

    Subs: Hart, Upson, A Cole, Milner, Carrick, Beckham, C Cole.
