From Fergie's comments to MUTV (a signing is almost done and in the midfield area) I'm guessing Senna will be a Man United player within days. However nothing is certain.

However I can't see him being given the number 10 spot. So hopefully one more attacking signing will come in.

    Can't not have a number 10!!! scratch

Senna, Diarra, Tevez and Torres are all on the cards - if you believe the papers, some even throw in Toni and Hargreaves.

Senna and Toni would make you title challengers - I wonder if SAF has half an eye on Gravesen if he's going cheap.

    Think on........

Or Neil Mellor, he's roughly the same stature; if we give him a south american name and teach him how to do keepy-uppies I'm sure Ferguson will fall for it.

Mellerinho and Rooney is a dead-ug-ly strike force Rolling Eyes

Senna and Tevez would do me fine. Then send Rossi on loan.

A front 6 from - Senna, Carrick, Fletcher, Scholes, Park, Giggs, Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez & Saha.

Michael Ballack snubbed advances from Manchester United as he feels the club's best years are behind them, while Chelsea have it all to play for now and in the future. (Sunday Mirror)

Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov also turned down Manchester United. (Sunday Mirror)

Emile Heskey revealed that he chose Wigan over Manchester United as he wanted to play for a club "on the up" (made up)

Tevez + Rooney = Headache, unless you get Fletcher to stand on the penalty spot all game.

There'd be good as a partnership imo. Rooney doesn't need another Ruud next to him, he needs a player able to create chances and space for him.

Did anyone see the game last night by the way?

Fletcher was immense! Like Paul Ince in his prime.

Do you not think Rooney and Tevez are too similar? Neither are what you would call box players - both like to drop deep and want the ball to feet.

    I think Toni + Rooney = Soccertainment[/center]

Tevez and Rooney would be awful Parky. They occupy the exact same positions, just do different things when they receive the ball.

Rooney looks to pass or shoot from distance whereas Tevez is more likely to go on a weaving run. They couldn't play together though. No way.

People thought that Riquelme would get in the way of Rooney's "natural game", well Tevez will certainly do that, aswell as offer no movement ahead of Rooney for him to pass to.

Rooney needs a player who'll run off the shoulder of defenders like Saha, Owen etc someone of that ilk.

They are similar in that they are both are all rounders, however with Ronaldo there as well, they could be come like a 3 man attack bit like what Spain had in the World cup. Tevez is just as comfortable coming in from the left side as well.

    Either -

    --------------- Senna ------------ Carrick

    ------- Ronaldo -------- Scholes --------- Tevez

    -------------------------- Rooney

    or

    --------------- Senna ------------ Carrick

    ------- Ronaldo --------- Rooney --------- Tevez

    ---------------------------- Saha

With Tevez cutting in. Giggs can cover Tevez & Carrick. Park can cover Ronaldo. Fletcher can cover Senna.

There do fine. If Corinthians are offering him to us for £15 million, like tribal bollocks have quoted, I hope we take it. May well be better value than Torres.

I like that line-up. But to complete it, and for it to work IMHO, I'd go with this.

    - - - - - - - - - Van Der Saar
    Neville - Ferdinand - Heinze - Evra
    - - - - - - Senna - Carrick
    Ronaldo - - - Rooney - - - Tevez
    - - - - - - - - - Saha

Then, when utd have the ball, it'd be more like the following...

    - - - - - - - - - Van Der Saar
    - - - Neville - Ferdinand - Heinze
    - - - - - - Senna - Carrick
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Evra
    Ronaldo - - - Rooney - Tevez
    - - - - - - - Saha

Something along those lines; slightly imbalanced, but when you have the ball that wouldn't matter, given that with Neville and Heinze in particular you have 2 fullbacks who can play as centrebacks, and in Evra, you have a very attacking fullback.

I'm modeling it, slightly, on the system that Argies used at the World Cup.

you're putting an awful lot of emphasis on Saha with that style - it would look good and certainly suits SAF's gung ho style, but if and when Saha gets injured after 7 games you've got problems.
