Boro reportedly interested in Michail Antonio, David Gold replied to the rumors stating that "His release fee is worth more than Middlesboro is worth, the town not the club".

West Ham are really making an effort to look like the most classless club in the country these days eh.

Aye, no surprise. As I said recently, a club run by c**ts, for c**ts. With one of the worst run out songs I've ever known.
I actually haven't seen that quote, I guess the media don't give sa shit about what any of their boys have to say

Sounds like Townsend is off to Palace to get ruined by Pardew, that'll backfire.

Re: Todays Transfer Rumours
Confusing few days, on the one hand a couple of players have picked us over premier league clubs, on the other Andros Townsend has chosen to go to relegation fodder and Pardew. Terrible career move for him, he should have atleast held out for a better club.

Everton apparently trying to sign Witsel from Zenit and Schneiderling from MU. I think latter can be realistic option, but Witsel? I seriously doubt it.

Re: Todays Transfer Rumours
And now rumours got very strong about Mata to Everton for around 20-25m.
He would be a very good "10" behind Lukaku (after Batshuayi move to Chelsea only PSG can realistically buy him), but even with having some money to spend not sure how realistic is that. Also, not sure what to do with Barkley in this scenario - I don't believe he could play in deeper role and I really don't want to see Mata outwide, as it clearly doesn't work. I would gladly sell Barkley, but probably we missed best moment to do it money wise (when his limitations weren't as clear as they are now).

You'll still get a good amount for Barkley, people have convinced themselves he's a misused genius at the moment

Going to be a lot of this by the looks of it. When clubs are bidding 20m for Troy Deeney and it's getting turned down, there's madness in the air.

Re: Todays Transfer Rumours
It's football manager and everyone has sugar daddy turned on. My prediction is a lot of players will move around, picking up signing on fee's and wage increases, their agents and lawyers will earn a shitload, and at the end of it the clubs that were shit before(like Palace) will still be shit, and the clubs that were less shit before will still be less shit. Transfers used to be exciting, maybe i'm just getting grumpy.

Re: Todays Transfer Rumours
Worth mentioning that while clubs like Palace are spending shitloads, Sunderland have the 3rd highest debt in the league and are still losing tens of millions every year. I can see them spending very little this summer while their rivals are in sugar daddy mode. Sad.
Plus that charlatan Allardyce is at the top of the betting for the England job.

Re: Todays Transfer Rumours
I agree with your general sentiment, maybe one or two clubs will do it the smart way - sell some players to Premier League rivals for inflated prices and get a replacement from outside (but looking at De Roon, maybe there is no cheaper transfers anymore...).Kimbo wrote:It's football manager and everyone has sugar daddy turned on. It sounds like "Transfers were exciting back in the day when Newcastle was one of the most active clubs, now it sucks since everybody can spend big".

Re: Todays Transfer Rumours
Middlesbrough bought Marten De Roon for 12m pounds from Atalanta. It's third transfer for them this summer. Don't know much about him or Viktor Fischer, but Bernardo Espinosa seemed to be quite highly rated in Spain.

Re: Todays Transfer Rumours
Yeah we're doing some business early. I know nothing about any of them other than Fisher was apparently highly rated until he got a bad injury. But still potential there they say, have some footage of him in Denmark friendlies since we signedsigned him and in those he looked decent, but they are just friendlies. Looks quick and direct..

The problem is a big money signing used to be a big deal, now there are so many of them, and a high % of them turn out to be average. It just looks like a bunch of oligarchs kids buying gold Ferrari's before they crash them into a tree after 2 miles, if that makes sense. It's all a bit cringeworthy.
This applies to Newcastle as well, we're still active, we spent over £80m last season and so far have spent £25m this summer, but none of them were really big signings, they were just normal(or worse) players that cost a shitload.

From a club with an 11k seater stadium.
It makes me confident we can get big money for Wijnaldum and Sissoko though.

Re: Todays Transfer Rumours
I guess Ibe hype at Anfield Road proved to be a short term one, Klopp killed it quickly. Price is great for LFC though.
I don't really understand how Bournemouth (from their perspective) can justify offering more for Ibe than what they they sold Ritchie for. At least Newcastle should be happy about it.
