You are just childish otto. This overhyping of German players is not healthy, it actually makes it look like you have an inferiority complex, for absolutely no reason.

There are other nations that can play football also otto, time to wake up to reality.

    blut

Du musst den mentalen Schalter umlegen

Germany had far more flair-vision-technique players at the last World Cup than anybody else

    including Brazil

what I hate about your argument

"German organistation-work rate... + Brazilian unpredicability"

is that you associate what makes football worth watching with the OTHERS (Brazil, Dutchland....)

    in other words

Du lagerst einen Teil der DEUTSCHEN Persoenlichkeit aus and projizierst ihn auf andere

it's too much of a black and white approach

the trick is to see the world in a holistic way

FLAIR for me is by definition as German as Brazilian; organisation maybe less so

Lahm had more flair than Carlos

    Lehmann more than Dida

    Klose more than Adriano

Mertesacker more than Naldo (at Bremen): or at least as much

what German football fans have to understand is to embrace their players and EXPECT them to show what we desire

at the World Cup they fulfilled that need already more than the Brazilians

in Stuttgart Klinsi told Schweini to play DIRECT, not like the Portuguese

he did it and overshadowed Ronaldo by many sizes

but he could have put in a FLAIR performance just as well, with dribbles, oversteps, the whole deal

we have to let OUR boys do what we want them to do

not request HARD WORK and let the Brazilians entertain

    wahre G

(PS: this does not mean that other countries don't produce good or indeed flair players as well

PPS: with the exception of the Dutch)

Read my posting again, it wasn't me who ridiculed German "flair", it was DD with his ironic post. Of course German players have "flair" and technique also.

Germany and Brazil have different football traditions, the focus here is different to that in Brazil. This is an undeniable fact. There is no German player in the Bundesliga who can dribble better than Diego, for example. That's why combining the strenghts of both approaches can be so fruitful, if done right.

This doesn't mean that German players can't dribble, or Brazilian players lack mental strenght, I never ever had a black-and-white scenario like that in mind. It's the focus that is different, it's just more likely to find excellent Brazilian dribblers than German ones, due to the different focus in their football education.

I let you off this time

    Very Happy

but I am not sure you really understand what I am trying to say, blut

forget about football for a second

amongst all the German and English people I know (of similar age-education...), the Germans tend to be MORE individualistic, creative and funny

    hands down

there are exceptions to this ; but it's still true as a trend

much of this is AGAINST stereotype (just like in Fussball)

and the Teutons in question would not even make any claims of superiority

yet somehow our dear Germans fail to communicate their strenghts appropriately because they always expect somebody else to be better-have more flair....

it's like looking at a drop-dead-gorgeous girl whining that all the others are more pretty than her

what our nation needs is a collective make-over

    a mental oil-change

I fear it won't happen in our life-time, which incidentally, is one of the reasons why so many top Teutons are searching for gold abroad

I think that neither chrissi or I have a problem with saying that Germany are one of the very best national teams in the world atm., and can beat anyone.

You are just looking for an "inferiority complex" that doesn't exist, and think that you have to compensate for that, and the lack of appreciation German football gets abroad, by overhyping anything German. But that's not how it works otto. The best way to shut up all those idiots who still keep writing us off is to prove them wrong on the pitch.

Hyping is not the German way, so please drop it (or just come back for a few weeks to get healed Wink). We don't need it, we don't need stupid player-to-player comparisons either. We know how good we are, and don't need to tell everyone and their grandmother about it, like the Dutchies do. Wink

    Let football do the talking.

    Let football do the talking.

if hyping is not the German way, then why do so many foreigners get hyped in Germany Question

you should have said: hyping Germans is not the German way, hyping everybody else is a national past-time

Hoeness just announced that they have signed WELTSTARS and he meant Ribery and Toni; not Klose

    Doh Laugh

see Netzer on Holland, Siegenthaler-Klinsi on English football....

    the list is endless

as for "let football do the talking": funny that, the ENTIRE world is letting talking doing the talking, only not the ever so eloquent Teutons

it really is TIME for Germans to stand up and make their case

most of us behave like shy-quiet little girls doing the washing up and being surprised that nobody showers us with affection and praise

it's a very female trait: doing a good job and hoping to get some recognition and ultimatively promotion (in the work-place) as a result

in most cases, " not selling yourself" means "not getting anywhere"

    Germans will never learn that

in general, it is this "everthing foreign is better and we are so $h!t"-attitude that drives the best Germans out of the country

getting excited about Diego but not Klose Doh

spiegel.de recently had a survey saying 20% of all German managers now live and work abroad

our very own Effenberg on this board said the other day that it was German negativity that meant he had no interest in going back

same applies to my two brothers who live-work in America and Asia

and when I see one more image of Netzer or Siegenthaler or those German Miesepeter like Lattek I realise that I am not ready for an immediate comeback either

which brings us back to flair and organisation

it is exactly sentences like " we now combine German organistion with Brazilian flair" that drive me completely mad

    think of Lena Gerke

I am sure she combines German flair with German Puenklichkeit and German looks and beat Gisele Buendchen to the punch

the moment , you , my dear blut, embrace Lena, the girl from Cloppenburg, is the moment I move back to Germany

Das nennt man auch "im eigenen Land zählt der Prophet nichts", oder "die Kirschen in Nachbars Garten sind süßer".

This is not solely a German phenomenon otto, and you won't change anything about it by imitating the wrong hyping, or doing it worse even. Why this self-loathing, because that's nothing else than that? Why do Germans have to be like that? Aren't we successful enough already, in basically every aspect of life? Do we have to rub it under everyone's nose?

That's just nonsense. It's like you hate this typical German humbleness and modesty so much that you try to imitate others, thinking that this will make you a "better" person. It will not. Take it like it is otto, Germans are and always will be like this. Love it or leave it.

He is an arse of biblical proportions, that's why. 99% of the Germans agree.

100% will never question his footballing ability, that he is an all time great of this sport.
