Seems Real win the Drenthe bidding contest. According to De Telegraaf Real made a bid much higher than Chelsea's 10.5 M.

By the way of course we SMS-ed the Chav c**ts the details & told them to get serious or f@ck themselves.

Drenthe would be a great buy but why oh why are Madrid interested in Ballack? they need to be playing beautiful football.

Even if he does look to be a very promising player, there's no way we should be paying more than 10.5m for a player of his age.

    10.5 EUR?

I'd say f@ck it and put the 10.5 towards RQ.

Marca claims we've reached an agreement with Arsenal for Reyes at 9.2 Million EUR.

And we're going to sign Drenthe, and Robben next week Yikes

    3 LW's?

Drenthe said yesterday he doesn't plan to play Left-back, this sounds like a disaster!

I would buy any two, and focus on a LB and a RW.

He absolutely owned Nani, both offensively and defensively at the U21 EC.

Fact remains: why should we compromise the prices of our youngsters while no-one seems to have a problem paying those prices for the Godly Portuguese talents?
They're good but the hype round those guys is obscene. People even think now that its worth paying 17m quid for a talent. And others can't even cough up €10.5m for Drenthe.
    Go figure Rolling Eyes

I'm all for letting Drenthe stay at feyenoord for another season - his price will be at least double that anyway after the EC. wave

Batman wrote:Cicinho has not taken kindly to being palyed out of position, and threatened to leave the club if that continues to be the case.

After only the first match of the season, Bernd Schuster has dissent in his ranks to deal with.

The coach dropped his first hints regarding his plans for the season in yesterday's friendly against Stoke City, and Cicinho feels he is on the wrong end, literally.

While the first half of the 2-0 win saw Sergio Ramos on the right and Miguel Torres on the left, the second was conspicuous for Cicinho finding himself on the left, with Salgado playing in "his" position.

The player has previously dismissed speculation linking him with a move away, particularly to Roma, insisting he wants to stay and prove his worth, but seemed very irked after the game, irked enough to threaten to leave.

"I am not confortable on the left and would like to play in my position," he said on Spanish radio.

"I want to play at right back, and if that is not the case, I will find myself another club, because I do not see myself playing there [on the left] all year."

He insisted that he still wanted to stay at Madrid, but only if he was wanted for what he has to offer. The Brazilian warned that offers from other clubs were most certainly not a problem.

"My desire is to continue here, but only if it makes me happy," he quipped. "I have several offers on the table, and we will see what happens.

"It is certain that there are problems playing on the left, and that Schuster has asked me to paly there. My will is to play in my position."

Whether Dchuster handles this with kid gloves or an iron hand will tell us plenty about what will happen at Madrid over the coming 12 months. What is certain is that the gauntlet has been thrown to his man managing skills.

Schuster might have been a diva himself as a player, but if there is one thing that doesn't fly with German managers, it's threats like that, especially if they are made publically to the press.

I think an "iron hand" is more likely than "kid gloves" in this case.

If the reports are true, Reyes for €9.2m that is an absolute bargain. Well done to Pedja is that is true.

Robben for €30m and Drenthe for €10m (but if he doesn't want to play left back then I don't know why the hell we are getting him.)

Drenthe is the only one that concerns me because he has said in no uncertain terms that he doesn't want to play left back and both Schuster and Pedja say they want him to play left back.

Robben is equally good on the left and right.

no i dont want another young non-Madrid guy who is getting bought for some inflated price.you dont win $h!t with kids. i dont just want a young team in our spine. balance doesnt just mean having fair amounts of strikers as defenders. Experience won milan the CL. the only problem is i cant think of many playmakers anymore who are in their best age.Riquelme/Aimar/De la pena/??
i would gladly try out Riquelme since i think he is a dying breed and we should enjoy him as long as he is here since i figure he will retire early. Aimar needs good surrounding imo to show he is world class. valencia was always about the collective. while De la pena is a favourite of mine who is not currently world class but could be on the right surroundings.

Riquelme doesn't have what it takes when the money is on the table. He always falters in the big moment. He did well with Villarreal because there was no pressure. But he disappears at crunch time. Even with Villarreal he missed that crucial penalty in the UEFA Cup semifinal. I don't want him at Real Madrid.

    Jaime,

Do you personally want Ballack at Madrid? I mean the guy is 30, but i reckon if you pay us 13.5 Million, then like us getting Maka off you and helping us win the league twice it'd be a good deal?

i would take ballack instead of Diarra so we would be playing with a box to box next to gago which i would much prefer.
    Jaime
i like guti too but he hasnt proven to me that he can do it defensively. he would need one of the wingers to be more defensive like becks used to play. i saw granero do well enough for spain the very same role so im looking forward to seeing where he will be placed.

Under Schuster's system Guti won't have very much defensive responsibilty and that is when Guti is at his best. Diarra is going to be the only defensive midfielder sitting right in front of the back four. Granero and De la Red will have their opportunities to play in Guti's role as well.

i think people(or me) have misunderstood something or maybe i have lost something under translation. BUT Shuster has said he wants to play a midfielder that is more defensive and one that attacks plus wingers that hug the line now. if he meant a diamond that would mean that the defensive midfielder would have to cover alot of space. i think we will be playing a diamond but simply a 4-4-2 where one CM helps out in attack more and the other one is more defensive.i think it would very hard to play a system where the DM would cover that much.
