Rafa hasn't strengthened our squad as much as I expected he would. All our players are going to have to have the seasons of their lives if we're going to stand any chance of challenging this season.

Should be a regular first team player.
Ryan Babel
Potentially first team, but one for the future. Not a massive improvement on what we already have.
Yossi Benayoun
Backup attacking midfielder.
Lucas Leiva
Backup centre mid.
Andriy Voronin
Backup striker.

I've decided to be pessimistic. Optimism didn't get us anywhere last season. I honestly thought we would have strengthened more than we did (Bearing in mind that that another defender is probably on the way as well. )

I honestly think we've done the best we can, if Rafa could have gone out and bought Eto'o, Quarsema and Alves then I'm sure he would have

i agree i thought benitez was going to get a couple more transfer , but there is a winter transfer window

Rumours about interest in Mancini.

We were interested and made a bid a few weeks ago...But then we signed Babel instead. It's just his agent trying to force Roma into contract negotiations. We won't sign him.

These are two quality options we have for next season currently.

I think we will be incomparable to last year when the new team and players get acclimatised. remember we basically had no left wingers last year (gonzalez doesn't count as he was $h!t ). now we will have kewell, babel and benayoun to play there. this is an instant improvement. torres is also a huge improvement on what we had although obviously some people may try to say otherwise

i would take risse over aurelio any day, you have mascherano and alonso to pick up the defensive slack. Risse on his day is an amazing player(more of a LW admittedly ) but what he can do offensively is amazing

Yes i was there, he dribbled well but the end product (cross, shot) invariably was missing.

Still 45minutes in a freindly, hardly a mouth watering prospect.

He caused them problems, and that i suppose is what an attacking player should be doing.

everybody thought he was ok because he was at least taking on players and providing a bit of excitement while zenden was on the other wing and milan didnt leave their own half
