Liverpool Vs United pre-match...erm...discussion

I don't know if it will be discussion or just plain stupidity *cough* l r d *cough*

It's the first match of the weekend and is quite a big game in terms of United's race for the title, if they do win then surely it will be all over as United will be 12 points clear of Chelsea before they play, psychologically that's a huge gap.

For Liverpool it's about pride i suppose, to show we can match United despite the points gap but also we are still after a CL spot and need to make sure we do finish in the top 3 or 4, a win against United would seal this for us IMO and it would be a great way to go into the second leg with Barca.

My prediction: Liverpool 1-0 United

Manchester United must win to open a 12pt gap over Chelsea (with 2 games in hand) apply some pressure on Jose's men.

Should be a intresting game .. Kuyt will be the main threat.

I reckon Liverpool will win, and I'm hoping for a good match. Man U can afford the loss with their 6-point real terms margin for error, Liverpool have been on song of late and there's a lot of pride to play for. I predict that Kuyt and Gerrard will score for Liverpool, Ronaldo will score for Man U and that the final score will be 3-2 (can't be bothered to predict other scorers).

A lot will come down to how the two central midfields play. Scholes and Carrick have started to show their limitations in the last handful of games whereas Liverpool have Mascherano in, Sissoko back, and Alonso and Gerrard playing a lot better than earlier in the season. That could well tip the balance for them.

Agreed. I am actually worried about this game whereas I wasn't a month ago. Our form seems to have disappeared in the last few games whereas Liverpool's has improved. massively.

Scholes and Carrick have been below par recently and Giggs, despite scoring, seems to have shocker after shocker.

If fergie goes for the draw will probably lose like arsenal. I don;t get this settle for the draw rubbish, win the game wins the title. scholes carrick people stop them by playing 3 central midfielders. Rooney will to play as a midfielder along with them.

Also Vidic has been less imperious of late.

Still, I presume Neville will be restored to the lineup.

i think Alonso will be rested for the barca game.

I think Utd. will win this - assuming all the players perform to their abilities and without mistakes, the motivation is far too different for any other result IMO. Utd. want the league, Liverpool want to avoid injuries for the CL.

I don't think Rafa sees the importance of this game yet, and will be more concerned with the Barca game so could make some changes.

Still think we have a good chance as Liverpool for once have to attack being at home.

I'd take a draw but a win would be oh so sweet.

United clearly have the refs in their pocket this season so hopefully that won't be the deciding factor


I fully expect a comfortable liverpool win but a dive or moment of magic from ronaldo may just save the day for them

Liverpool getting a penalty for the first goal made the game easier. The refs seem to be giving them all season for pool.
