Klose arrives; Makaay is forgotten Empty Klose arrives; Makaay is forgotten

    Post by Ä Sun Jul 29, 2007 12:00 pm

Bayern won the German League Cup yesterday against Schalke 1:0

    with an on par performance

Klose scored the goal (who else Question ) : a scrappy one that showed his extreme mental alertness and dedication

this could very well be the first piece of Silver Klose has ever won in Germany (blut , please confirm)

most Bayern fans have already forgotten who Makaay even was, such is the genius of the MONSTER

I predict a full-house of trophies this year

finally , Klose got the club he always deserved

Kuranyi produced a sensational shot that should have ended with a dream goal; helas, Kahn pulled a wonder-save from nowhere

    ---------------

meanwhile, Bremen fans have blamed their desastrous season on Klose last year (despite the lad topping the scorer charts) Shocked Evil or Very Mad

now Allofs blames Klose for agreeing to stay and then breaking his word

ie, he is effectively blaming Klose for his botched attempt at finding a proper striker in time

excellent, now Bremen can go on to qualify for next year's UEFA Cup and we will know who is to blame

    Neutral

    actually, ricardo

the way you Dutchies have taken control at HSV deserves an entire book

    well done

I just hope Castelen is going to be more like VDV than de Jong

there are even reports that Dutch will now become the official language on the training ground, the club shop...

what I don't understand is how HSV have failed to lure Makaay to the Alster

    would have made perfect sense

Otto, its just a choice you have to make.
    HSV without Dutchies -> relegated
HSV with Dutchies -> staying up and even getting into Europe.

Seems like only you have a problem with it.

    haha

I think even Wolfsburg could end up higher than HSV in the Bundesliga this season

yesterday, Bayern beat vice-Champions Schalke with Klose,Lahm, Jansen, Ottl, Lell, Kahn, Alintop (born in Germany) and Wagner (last second sub)

    and WON

is there now a team in world (outside Holland) that has more Dutch internationals than HSV

Probably not, but it was HSV that needed an injection of quality last season to stay up. They got that in the form of Dutch reinforcements. Can you blame them for going for a sure thing in Castelen? Biggrin

So the fact that HSV has more Dutch people only shows that that club needed the Dutchies the most. Biggrin

I'll give you metaphore you can understand: If HSV was Jan Ulrich, then the influx of Dutchies were the much needed EPO for him to win.

Let's see how well the 2 best strikers in the world, Podolski and Klose, the Polish power work together. The idea of them actually failing is completely unacceptable for our teutonic friend, but if they do, I fear this may be the beginning of the end of otto, a man who could once charm his way out of a room with no doors.

Klose and Podolski work actually very well as an partnership, they seem to have an blind understanding for each other in the Mannschaft, although Podolski profits a lot more from Klose's unselfish assists than the other way around (he is young and has a lot to learn still).

That's actually the best argument for a Poldi starting place in die Mannschaft next year, although he really needs to up his game this season, which will be difficult enough with the tough competition he has to face in Toni. That argument alone won't be enough though, as it would be unfair to others like Gomez and Kuranyi, who I expect to have another excellent season.

A Makaay - Toni partnership simply would not have worked, they are too similar, that's why Bayern wanted Klose so much (Makaay - Klose would have worked very well though). Klose is the ideal partner for a natural goalscorer type of striker in a 4-4-2.

Great player, but awful character, the ungrateful bastard. Oh well.

Kuranyi looked really good in the Ligapokal matches. He set up a number of chances, particularly in the semi-final match, and had some good efforts on goal. Who are the first choice partnership up front for Germany at the moment? I guess Klose and maybe Gomez after his excellent last season.

you say this depends on what type of player you like klose your typical goal poacher and podolski is one of the best strikers in the world for me wins everytime + you have to say its good to see a team using german players up top and a very succesful partnership for the national team already

Kuranyi is ahead of Gomez in the pecking order these days, might be different next year if Gomez has another brilliant season. It's really too early to say. Klose will most probably be a starter though.

Löw said that the WC players of 2006 have a 'little bonus' in this respect, but especially Podolski has to really improve next year after stagnating at Bayern last season, or he most definitely will lose his starting place. In addition to that, there are other youngsters coming through who will make life not easier for him either.
Klose - Kuranyi - Gomez - Podolski will probably be the four strikers Löw will take to Austria / Switzerland next year.

Gomez is the naturally most talented German striker these days (Klose was nowhere near his level at this age), and he is extremely ambitious also. I expect him to be the leader in the attack in future.

I won't forget him. I'm just saying it for the people who forgot about him.

    Career :

Makaay was the European Golden Boot winner for the 2002-03 season for being the top scorer in Europe. He was first recognised as a talented striker while playing for Vitesse Arnhem in the mid 1990s and honed his skills at the Spanish First Division with Tenerife and later with Deportivo de La Coruña where he scored 22 goals in 36 appearances in his most prolific 1999-00 season. His international caps for the Dutch national team have been limited due to players such as Patrick Kluivert, Dennis Bergkamp and Ruud van Nistelrooy. Makaay did, however, play for his country at Euro 2000 and Euro 2004. In the latter tournament, he scored against Latvia in the first round. He played 31 times for the U-21 national team for the Netherlands which equals a record with Arnold Bruggink.

His first encounter with Bayern Munich came during the UEFA Champions League 2002-03 season when he scored a hat-trick at the Olympiastadion in Munich in Deportivo's 3-2 win over the Bavarians. The Bayern bosses then kept a close eye on him through out the whole season and finally beat off stiff challenges from Manchester United and Chelsea to get their man. A club record fee of $20 million was paid to Deportivo La Coruña. He has since scored 78 Bundesliga and 17 UEFA Champions League goals during his four seasons at Bayern.

On August 21, 2006, Roy Makaay scored Bayern Munich's 3,000th Bundesliga goal. On March 31, 2007, he scored his 100th Bayern Munich's goal in the game against Schalke 04. It was his 75th Bundesliga goal and 100th competitive goal since joining Bayern Munich in 2003.

On 7 March 2007 Makaay scored the quickest goal in Champions League history, finding the net after just 10.2 seconds to help Bayern overturn a first-leg deficit and put Real Madrid out of the competition.

Makaay has returned to Holland for the 2007/08 season, when Feyenoord signed him to a 3-year deal with an unknown fee in June of 2007. Makaay decision to leave was affected when Bayern Munich decided to sign forwards Luca Toni and Miroslav Klose.
