    Post by Ä Fri Aug 10, 2007 11:58 pm

    let the Bonanza begin

    <Ale>

the league bosses had a meeting and apparently decided that investors would now be allowed to put money into the Bundesliga

even Rummenigge thinks it's a good idea

    but

    " No OLIGARCHS, please"

the details have yet to be decided

this could alter EVERYTHING in German, hey, European football

Dortmund, Berlin, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Cologne and Co are slumbering giants waiting to give Liverpool and Manchester a good kicking

according to the new DFL boss investors are already forming a long line

who do you think is most likely to invest Question

I suggest , from the USA, all those ethnic Germans

    Donald Trump
    the Hotel Hiltons
    the Beanz Meanz Heinz family
maybe Kissinger and the new-cons like Rumsfeld

probably, truckloads of Middle-Eastern Oil Princes who like Germany for "historical reasons"

what about Michael Schumacher Question he could buy his beloved Cologne

    enticing prospects

Not a good idea imo. The Bundesliga clubs should remain independant. Like I said the other day, the Bundesliga is no playing ground for foreign (oil) billionaires and other criminals.

    oi , chrissi

Allofs could persuade one of the Albrecht brothers to buy Bremen

    "Werder Aldi Nord"

has a certain ring to it Ale

Allofs could still continue his bargain-basement-hunting; just at a higher level

15 million for Huntelaar would be a steal

    25 million for Alves : pocket-money

And in the end every club will need its own billionaire to buy a half decent player. We don´t need more billionaires, we need no billionaires in football at all. And we have to stop paying the players and their fat agents more and more money.

Otto, you should be against this!

The Bundesliga will lose its image then, and you will turn into a sort of EPL!!! Doubt that is really your dream

    Image
    -Bremen
    -Bayern
    -Dortmund
    -Stuttgart

Not being able to field a complete German team....all together Shocked That will be your future!!!

And besides, it will only work if everyone gets an billionaire except Bayern!! Then the Bundesliga will be the best league in the world!!!

    fey

I have mixed feelings as well

but remember, we Germans are fiendishly clever and responsible

    Smile

they will NOT allow any Russians or any Thai human rights transgressors

the fans would not accept it

the media would not accept it

what will happen is that RESPONSIBLE guys like the SAP billionaire buying clubs

the SAP guy has invested a big chunk of money into Hoffenheim , a 3rd league club

they will now get a new 30.000 stadium

    +

they have one aim and one aim only: to foster GERMAN talents

    Ale

the Red Bull Billionaire from Austria wants to do the same thing: support GERMAN talents

his target: snoozing Leipzig or Duesseldorf

    I think it could work

Fully agree with chrissi. otto, you should leave the island ASAP, really don't like that "billionaire" talk of yours.

German clubs are even more interesting for investors than EPL clubs, because the German market is bigger...at least that´s what I have read.

Of course there will be a demand for COTR!

There are enough rich people that want to have their own football club.

Billionaires are like children, they all want the same!!

But I think it would be bad for German football, all you have to do is give Bayern munich 15 deduction at the beginning of EVERY season!!!

That you have a league where 1 till 9 compete with each other for the title Shocked Shocked Shocked

according to sport1.de (dummenigge and co)

    maybe we will

as long as no Russians, no baseball billionaires, and no Rupert Murdochs are allowed, but mostly German speaking chaps

    it could work

great article. the only things i would say is bad about the bundesliga is the diving(allthough i get that alot in spain) and the lack of stars(at least in their prime). i think the set up should be made so fans have more power in all clubs.

There really is not more diving in the Bundesliga than elsewhere. It's a general problem of this sport these days unfortunately.

As far as the stars are concerned, well, it all depends on your definition of a "star". Don't forget that it is the media that creates those "stars" in first place. And it's exactly the area the Bundesliga lacks most compared to the other big leagues, marketing, creating and selling an image, selling yourself (and your players) abroad.

If you want to see good / excellent players however, and not names foremost (although things have changed recently, e.g. Bayern signing a few "big name" players), you should see plenty.

I'm not against generating more money, we definitely need more money to catch up with the other big leagues, or even overtake them in the long run again (back to the top). But we should be careful about how we do it, and we shouldn't be hypocritical either. I can't criticise the big sell out in the EPL (= clubs taken over by foreign investors), and support the same in the Bundesliga. We have to keep the structures that make this league great.

Potentially, it is the biggest market in Europe by far indeed.

Investors - are welcome, but 49% max., at least at my club.

What is there to really gain in this, just more money, besides that nothing right? They are going to trade their entire decision making for money? Stupid move in my opinion.
