Pennant was good today, but i wouldn't say he was brilliant. With a little more intelligence he could have set up Stevie for the 2nd. He was one of our best players, but I think gerrard was the best (despite his dire shooting). I was disappointed with Riise again - ok, he's physical and a good ball winner, but he's void of technique and creativity...also, he's pretty greedy.

I think we played extremely well in the first half, we looked eager, we had a great goal from Torres and we had Chelsea under constant pressure and danger.

The most annoying for me is Benitez's decision to take off Pennant, I thought he was our best player today I really do, Gerrard was great in the first half but Pennant was sublime today, his touches, his movements his crosses were all of the highest order and that's not always easy in those conditions.

As for the penalty it was a crazy crazy decision, Malouda has ran into Finnan (Not agger, Andy gray FFS) and the ref has chosen to give Chelsea a hand when they looked out of options.

We had 16 chances on goal I think and it's a shame not to take more of them, but we have plenty of positives, I think we did enough to win the game but I would of taken 4 points from the opening two games, it's early days.

ill take that with a grain of salt, you always seem to say that Razz

Nope I don't actually, Pennant was fantastic today, I was unbelieveably pissed off when Rafa took him off, he should of took Riise off

I thought he was indicating a free kick but happened to still have the card in his hand. Quite what the free kick was for.....?

My mum was just watching Gray and even though she takes very little interest in football said. "That guy sounds moronic and crass." Perhaps what he should have said was from where Rob Styles stood he must have thought Finnan clattered into Malouda but on the replay it looked like 6 of one half a dozen of the other. As far as the season goes Liverpool got a goal from an equally dubious free kick last week so it's cancelled itself out already. There's many a small club for whom it doesn't cancel itself out. Indeed the fact that Liverpool only conceeded one penalty last year suggestes where the benefit over a season lies (I'm sure the statistics for the other big clubs are equally weighted against the opposition but the only statistic quoted after the game was the Liverpool statistic). The two experts were terrible today. Jamie Redknap (now who did he play for?) said that Chelsea were on the referees case. What the hell were Liverpool doing? Chelsea didn't get a single free kick for twenty minutes but when Alonso clattered into Malouda, a clear foul, Styles was surrounded by Liverpool players complaining. They disputed every foul that was given against them.
I still don't know why Ben Haim was booked. There was no foul (it was a throw in) and Torres walked into him and put his head in his face. Now wonder he looked bemused.

In our game, yes. We had the better of the first half but Blackburn dominated the second so I think a draw is a fair result. Man Utd got robbed, and Chelsea against Liverpool was fairly even as well with very few chances. Liverpool were probably the better side, and with the ludicrous penalty decision may have the right to feel a bit aggrieved.
