I think Milan will make a final day surprise (God willing).

We've been known to do that in the past. In recent memory, Nesta was a transfer deadline day (or close to that) signing.

I think we will try to go for one of Cannavaro and Zambrotta.

no way we will let go of Zambrotta after having sold Belletti already. Who would we be left with at RB?

In that case we would have to sign Alves and still only have Oleguer as back up. Not very sound defensively.

I have seen him for Roma & Juve a lot... in those days, not too long ago, Emerson>>Gattuso IMO. Plus they have complimentary skills, which scares me. Puma+Gattuso=Cambiasso+Vieira, we have lost our advantage.

Here is the latest on Cannavaro:

Milan To Make Last-Minute Cannavaro Swoop?
There are growing rumours in both Italy and Spain that Azzurri skipper Fabio Cannavaro could be sold to AC Milan before the end of the transfer window closes this Friday. The 33-year-old centreback has repeated on many occasions already this summer that he has his heart set on staying at Real Madrid, but according to the latest reports a last-minute transfer cannot be ruled out. Chelsea and Juventus both failed to make much headway in their bid to secure the services of Cannavaro, but AC Milan are said to hold the best cards despite having entered the frame late.Real’s official line is that the World Cup winner and current World Player of the Year is not for sale, but word is that an offer in the region of $10 million could change that stance very quickly.

    Napoli near Nilmar deal
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Napoli are closing in on the signing of Brazilian striker Nilmar, according to reports in the Italian Press. The 24-year-old impressed at Internacional as a youth player and then signed for French champions Lyon in 2004 for £5m. After a positive spell at the Stade Gerland, Nilmar was loaned out to Corinthians as Les Gones had reached their limit of non-EU players. Despite dazzling fans with 31 goals in 55 games in Brazil, the Parana native found himself a free agent when Corinthians were unable to pay his wages and had to release him this summer.

Now it seems that the Partenopei are poised to pounce and ex-Vesuviano Antonio Careca believes they could be about to sign a star. “Nilmar is a star striker with great moviment and fantastic quality,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss Naples. “He has proven himself in Brazil for Internacional and Corinthians. “The deal isn’t done yet, but I have been speaking to his agent over the last few days and he said there is definite interest.”

    Lyon Confident About 'Unsettled' Mancini

Olmypique Lyonnais are pressing ahead with their bid to sign Amantino Mancini from AS Roma as they believe his bad relationship with Luciano Spalletti and Francesco Totti means he wants to leave.

The French club are confident that the 27-year-old's desire to join them will see him turn down a new contract and force through a transfer despite having a bid rejected this week..

Mancini's agent, Gilmar Veloz, has said that the player will only stay if a new deal is agreed and is confident that one will be sewn up soon.

Despite that, Lyon director Bernard Lacombe believes that Mancini is unsettled at Roma and will use that to see a move to France materialise.

“The player is very interested in coming to Lyon,“ he stressed.

“We know for certain that Amantino is not on the best of terms with his boss Luciano Spalletti and he also doesn’t get on with the captain Francesco Totti.

“We believe strongly in his will to move and that his agent will help him.

"We have the money waiting, but at the moment the transfer is being blocked at the highest level by Rosella Sensi.”

Mancini's current contract runs until 2009, but with only a minimum pay rise outlined in the deal the Brazilian is demanding a new deal.

I really really doubt the Mancini move. He seems happy at Roma, and it doesn't seem his contract renewal is a problem. Also, IMO, Roma are a bigger club.

Nilmar to Napoli is no done deal yet.

Let us wait and see. Nilmar is one of our options, actually, he is pretty cheap in comparison (no transfer fee, €1M in wages a year), we wouldn't even need the CL money to afford him.

A lot of speculation about who we are going to sign in the next few days.

I wonder if this transfer will happen since F**K Corinthians still havent paid the 8 million pound fee to Lyon back in 2005. So in fact he should still belong to Lyon. Weird laws.

Nope. It makes a big contrast with all the excitement of the last day of the transfer window for Arsenal a year ago. It would have been nice to bring in another player though.

Still Bouaouzan must have quite a lot of money to sign Wigan. I would probably say the fee is around 30 mill Wink
