You see, I wouldn't call hanging around 15 yards from goal, inviting teams onto you because you're slower than a milkfloat, all the while shouting at those around you to try to make up for your massive shortcomings as a player 'excellent' leadership.

I really think Terry is the most overrated player in the league now Pippy Longstockings has buggered off to Barca.

The only glimmer of relief to take from from last night was that Charles N'Zogbia didnt score. I dont think I could've beared it what with Dimbo and the child groomer Tweedles both simultaneously hanging out the back of him currently

    Very Happy Very Happy

Let's take it in turns, week by week. Like we did with Henry. We managed to force him out of the country, maybe we can do the same with Terry. I'm sure some second division Bulgarian side would be willing to give him a shot...

Getafe- managed to beat Barca 4-0 or something ridiculous last season. Came 9th in La Liga.

Newcastle. 13th in Premiership last season.

It was a very good performance from Butt. I thought he, along with the centre backs, were very solid. Butt made a number of excellent challenges and covered the pitch well too. Id still contest his man of the match award, though he seems an ever-popular man of the match awardee, standing as he does for commitment and being considered one of the most experienced of our players - he often wins the award when the team as a whole dont play well, whereas last night I thought we had some good patches of play, though the way we stood off at times, particularly in the second half, allowed Butt to do what hes best at. And like I say, he broke up the play really well. Personally Id have given the man of the match award to Martins, because for me, his goal won us the game - it came from his own determination, hed threatened a few times before that point and was our only outlet in attack throughout, the finish was good, hes probably the only player in our team who could have scored the goal, and in the end, after a mediocre first half overall, the goal was vital in establishing our superiority.

I did think there were some promising signs from last night, as well as a good result. Whilst Id still play Rozehnal at the back, probably along with Faye, its clear that we now have a very good choice of players at centre back. Both Faye and Cacapa are very strong defensively. And the full backs, despite poor delivery at times, overlapped pretty well, Enrique made one or two forays later on, Beye was strong in the tackle. Butt and Emre, whilst Emre was far from exceptional, at least worked better as a partnership in my opinion - Butt and Geremi, what with Geremis lack of mobility, always looks too static and uncreative, whilst they dont seem to communicate or compliment each other naturally. Geremi was poor, N'Zogbia improved through the first half and was starting to make some good runs down the left, and should have stayed on the pitch. Owen, however good he is at what he does, doesnt do enough, and certainly not enough for us. He stands high up the pitch and, when we dont have the ball all of the time, and dont always build moves, he doesnt get involved in the play but just hovers around.

Overall, like I say, I think at least indications of a more balanced team throughout.

    Nice post Bash ,
so this is your best team according to you

    --------------Given---------------
    Beye----------Faye--------Rozenhal--------Enrique

    ----Milner------Butt----Emre------------N Zog

    ---------------Martins-----Viduka

or Barton gets in there ahead of Butt , pretty solid looking defence just need some quality in midfield like Appiah perhaps.

I'll field this one 1trick. No, and i doubt he ever will be.

I dont like attributing a team performance to one or two individuals, however I'd say-

Of course he is Dimbo. He helped win us the game against Chelsea at home last season for a start, and despite your inability to accept it, Lennon has been one of the main reasons we finished 5th for the last 2 seasons.

Berbatov has only been here for one season, King hasnt played for most of last, and therefore Keane and Lennon have been the 2 major players for Spurs over those seasons.

He is, and always will be, better than N'Zogbia king <Ale>

You still believe that then, i've got to admire your hardheaded attitude, i think even TS is wavering tbh, although he won't admit it. Biggrin <Ale>

    @ DS

Yeah that probably is our best team at the moment, it's the team we should play at home atleast. Away we should probably go 4-3-3, this is what i would like to see...

    Beye--Faye--Cacapa--Enrique

I just get the feeling that your denial is slipping. I'm seeing less and less Andy Lennon hype coming from you. Just a feeling.

Lennon needs to get a bit of Sharpness back - he'll be fine.

Its because he's been injured for ages Kimmy Laughing .

Its not hype anyway, its reality - its no suprise we've been struggling without him. To quote Nutwing- we miss his deep penetration. Says I etc. <Ale>

Sure, he'll be back to swinging beautiful crosses in and picking smart passes in no time. silent

Kimbo do you think you will bring in some quality in Jan or would there be just squad covers like LB,RB or a winger.

I haven't the foggiest, i wouldn't be surprised to see us move for Scott Brown or Diouf in january - they've both been linked. I know we're buying an 18 year old striker from Le Harve called Wesley Ngo Baheng, that's for definite.
