    Robinson bemoans sale of Carrick

Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson has criticised his club for selling Michael Carrick to Manchester United.
Carrick sealed a move to Old Trafford last month in a deal that could be worth £18.6m but Robinson says the sale was "a backward step" for Spurs.

"If we want to break into the top four, we shouldn't be selling to the top-four group," he told the News of the World.

"Maybe Chelsea can afford to do it but you don't see United and Arsenal selling to each other."

Robinson's mood has not been helped by Tottenham's poor start to the season, which has seen them lose two of the opening three games.

And the England keeper hopes the money raised from Carrick's sale will be used to strengthen the squad at White Hart Lane.

"Financially it was good business for the club - providing the money goes back into the team," added Robinson.

"If we lose a player of Michael's importance, it must benefit the areas that need strengthening."

What they need to do now is re-focus on playing decent, instead of publically moaning.

Although I'm happy we got Carrick, I think he's got a point.

Carrick was so focal for them last season and its more the principal than the price. You wouldn't see Arsenal selling Fabregas to Chlesea for £20 - 25 million.

I was Bemoaning the sale of Carrick, because of the lack of Killer passes, as shown yesterday.

Carrick slows down the pace of the game, but we rarely lose the ball and he produces some sublime balls to the front men, utalsing Keane's Movement.

Howver the way Jol's wants us to attack is fast paced football, for which we lacked yesterday, hence the Panicky bid for Downing.

Zokora/Tainio and Carrick partnership would have been more productive than Jenas nad Zokora/Tainio....

We've still got 4 days left, I know there will be a signing, whom I am not sure of...

Its obvious that selling to a top4 competitor (even though Spurs IMO aren't yet competitors for 2nd place) isn't viewed as wise.

But Robinson is kicking in open doors. Publically moaning isn't going to help.
I think that the Carrick deal was golden for spurs, they couldn't pass up on that offer, because Carrick was ridiculously overpriced.

And Spurs aren't suffering because of the loss of Carrick necessarily, but because of King's absence foremost. And a lack of form in midfield (or end product). Zokora hasn't had the immediate impact yet, but he will.

The less time you spend defending, the more you have for attacking.

    ok

Carrick's gone now, I knew it would be tough for us to adjust without him, but we still have other good players. King is our best player (including Carrick), and we are missing him badly. The defence is a wreck without him, and the lack of Confidence from that area of the pitrch is spreading through the rest of the team.
