Watford’s visit to White Hart Lane on Saturday will provide The Hornets’ talented young keeper Ben Foster with a chance to go head to head with current England no.1 Paul Robinson.
Since moving to Vicarage Road in a loan deal from Manchester United, Foster has been in inspired form, helping The Hornets win promotion to the Premiership last season and continuing his good form into the current campaign. Indeed, Foster’s quality between the posts for Watford has even earned the young glovesman a senior England call-up.
Compared to Robinson’s overall performance in the top division, Foster does remarkably well, conceding 28 goals at a rate of one every 63 minutes, a slightly superior rate to that of the Tottenham keeper (61 minutes per goal conceded).
Despite playing nine games fewer than Robinson, Foster has also kept one clean sheet more than his counterpart while his saves to shots ratio is a considerable nine percentage points better.

When ranked alongside the Premiership’s other regular net-minders, Foster ranks at the top end of the bottom 10, however Robinson’s dip in form now means that only one regular keeper in the top tier has saved a lower proportion of shots on their goal.
