The divide between 11th and 12th is now very noticeable. I'm sure that most before the season started would have had the same bottom 8, but maybe in a different order, to what it is at present with the one exception of spurs.

There does seem to be an elite of 12 teamsdeveloping though. There's obviously the big 4, but after that I'd say the next 8 teams (inc Spurs) all have ambitions of UEFA cup football, or possibly Intertoto.

Then the next 8 are all the relagation battlers, some more than others of course.

Interesting article on the Eurosport website about the impact of goals in the last ten minutes on the league table:

Premier League - The pain of the late defeat
    -----------------

Poor Fulham - they hung on gamely against Liverpool at the weekend but then late goals from Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard saw another potential point disappear.

It has been a familiar tale for fans of Cottagers this season - it started on the first weekend of the season against Arsenal when Robin van Persie and Alexander Hleb broke their hearts at the Emirates with their late strikes turning three points for Lawrie Sanchez's side into none.

Then there was their trip to Wigan, when they saw another victory slip away, as a late Jason Koumas penalty meant they had to settle for a draw.

Truly the last 10 minutes of Premier League games this season has been x-rated stuff for Fulham fans.

It got eurosport.yahoo.co.uk thinking, how different would the table look if all those pesky late goals were discounted?

We ignored all the strikes between the 80th and 90th minutes, and saw some interesting results in our revised league table.

Fulham of course would have been much better off, with all late goals discounted they would have seven more points now and be in the lofty position of ninth, just behind - wait for it - ARSENAL!

Yes, the league leaders truly are the kings of the late goal; they have scored eight goals in the closing stages of games and conceded just one, which has seen them earn an extra 10 points.

Take all those goals away and they would be a lowly eight in the Premier League table and not even in a UEFA Cup spot.

Nobody comes even close to that level of late production, with Liverpool and Reading the next biggest benefactors, having secured four extra points apiece.

While on the other side of the coin, Fulham are not the only side to have suffered from late heartache with Wigan (five points lost) and Tottenham (six points lost) also feeling the sting of the late goal on more than one occasion.

Of course, everybody knows football is a 90 minute game and all of this is just a bit of nonsensical fun, but interesting nonetheless!

So Fulham fans look away now, find below our revised league table and details on how all the Premier League sides have performed in the last 10 minutes of games.

New league table if goals scored between the 80th and 90th were discounted.

If you take away the last 10 minutes of a match, the Germans would never have won anything. Arguably not even a match.*

    *Last bit was exagerated.
