Breno to Bayern? Empty Breno to Bayern?

Post by Effenberg Fri Nov 16, 2007 12:56 pm

According to Bild (yeah I know) Bayern have beaten out Real Madrid, Juve, Milan and Fiorentina to sign Vinicius Rodrigues Borges ('Breno') - prodigious 18-year old CB from Brazil. Price tag: 14 million Euros.

Anybody know anything about this kid?

I'll cross him off the list, I swear they opened that magazine and have started picking them at random.

todo reckons he's the best defender in the league. Vickery likewise has mentioned him as a huge talent. I've seen nothing of him myself, so can't really comment.

I don't remember him in the U20 WC either.

If true, sounds like it would be a major coup tho. Maybe the fact that Lucio & Ze Roberto are at Bayern helped persuade him? Particularly the former.

Just confirmed. Signed for 14m Euros. Quite an investment. Cost more than both Klose & Toni.

It is a lot of money to spend, on top of a considerable sum already spent this year by Bayern. That first article says that he will go straight into the starting line up which suggests that he must be a very capable defender. It seems that Bayern are already targeting the weak areas in their squad.

wow. The talent drain continues. Don't think he has even played a full season as a senior.

Sounds like a great buy though.

He is meant to be a really good player, with Chrisantus joining Hamburg and Breno joining Bayern, maybe the Bundesliga can become strong again.

So 70m weren't enough? The Bayern board must be mighty afraid of the big threat from the high north...Laughing

Anyway, I hope this makes sure you leave your little greedy wurst fingers from Merte then... Very Happy

While I agree that CB is one of playes Bayern need to beef up a bit, I thought Demichelis has done a great job this year. Benching him would be very harsh. I agree that Van Buyten and Ismael are Cr@p but Demichelis deserves a chance surley.

tbh Jaime was against spending £10 on a brazilain defender.

Real didn't say anything publicly, it was Robinho's agent also one of Breno reps, who linked the player to Real.

    Is the deal 100% offical?

No doubt, Demichelis and Lucio have been excellent together. But we need more some alternatives in the position. Two players can't play all 50 matches.

Ismael has been out for over a year with an injury and van Buyten is simply not cutting it.

    Don't think so. I haven't seen anything.

Brazilian defender doesn't need to be a bad thing. Lucio is quite capable. They're not all Pepes.
