If Inter were to play againist us at present, who would be their line up?

At the mo, the line-up will be:

------------------Cesar
Maicon - Cordoba - Materazzi - Maxwell
Zanetti - Cambiasso - Chivu - Jimenez
------------Ibra ------ Cruz

Basically the same line up that turned up against Milan. But by the time of our game, Figo and Vieira should be fit, and most likely so will Stankovic. I expect the line-up at Anfield to be:

------------------Cesar
Maicon - Cordoba - Materazzi - Chivu
Figo - Cambiasso - Vieira - Zanetti
------------Ibra ------ Cruz

ie a bit more muscle.

I wouldnt be surprised if Crespo starts, i know Cruz is doing great atm, but Mancini seems to like to play Crespo in the CL.

Samuel is out for the season. Stank is likely to be out for another 6-7 weeks, my guess is that he will not be fit for Liverpool. If he is fit, then you are right.... Zanetti will shift to LB, and Stank will take the left wing...

I would have agreed with ya re Crespo, except that in the last 1-2 months that preference seems to have finally shifted. A fit Crespo has had to be happy with coppa games and sub appearances.... looks like Cruz is finally first choice with Mancio...

Are you gonna argue that your squad is as good as Inter's?

Or Liverpool could nick a score draw at San Siro and Progress on basis of away goals?

I thought that was as simple as it got.

RedNWhite, I would have agreed with you before... but this Inter has made a habbit out of winning for about 18 months now, and in the last few months I have seen a very different mentality... its beginning to seep into the teams/players psychy, they now play like they know that they will win... and that conviction makes us win games even when we are missing stars or not playing well or are a goal down - even when all of these 3 are true, like what happened against Milan.

Anything can happen in 40 days, we may lose form or conviction. But if I had to bet now, I think we will be about the same... We will go to Anfield to win, and we will play in San Siro to win. And most likely, we will win both the games. Coz thats what will happen if we play Liverpool right now.

No disrespect, like I said before, Liverpool are the team I feared the most before the draw.

I think if Liverpool can go 1-0 at Anfield they can win it. If the Reds can pull out a win at the Nou Camp they can certainly draw at Inter.

Totally different opposition though - last year our players were mentally out of it for the whole season, we missed Etoo, and had players like Belletti, Motta, and Saviola starting. Inter this year are a winning machine.

Can't wait for these games, we need something to get our season on track and get everyone behind the team again and a win against Inter will certainly do that

There is a huge difference between Barca of last year and Inter of this year.

First Barca had all sorts of trouble off the field. Remember the Eto'o vs. Ronaldinho rivalry or the problem with Eto'o and Rijkaard. Barca were probably the most inconsistent team among the big ones.

This year Inter has taken literally taken consistency to new heights. For the first few games they had most of their first choice defense knackered, now they have their midfield out. But they keep on winning.

This will probably the most difficult opponents for Inter, but given the quality gap I think they will win.

Inter are slight favourites due to their current league form, but are CL underachievers, and anything can still happen to them on the day in the CL. It's like Milan being favourites against Arsenal even though arsenal are playing better football, and are higher in the league. The CL is just different.

Also Inter have been great in the league but only good in the CL, eg in their last game against PSV in holland, they only won 1-0 and that was with psv playing for 1 hour with 10-men.

Inter are more than 'slight' favourites IMO.

Liverpool are going through a real rutt at the moment and losing Agger will only compound that now.

I'm 90% confident that INter will progress

We had problems before Barca away last season and it seemed to just spur us on. I fancy us against anyone in Europe and don't see why Inter should be any different.

Barca didn't exactly have the best of seasons last season. they were a gear off what they were capable of.

In contrast, Inter are flying this season.

Having said that, I'd much prefer to face an in form Inter than an in form Barca.

Hopefully Ibrah gets injured in the next couple of weeks for a couple of months

The PSV game was an away win in a more or less meaningless game for Inter. They had qualified as group toppers.

There will be no such issues with in the R16.
