    top post from bluenine above

Saw the game last night, and thought inter played much better than I thought they would (except for the finishing). Reina doesn't seem to have been credited here so I have to say he played very well, not only saving, but getting his angles right making it very difficult for the inter strikers to hit the target when they had chances.

Other points to note: Ibra played ok, and did create a couple of good opportunities. But this is the difference between the fancy flick kind of support strikers and goal-scorers. Ibra created opportunities for himself and others, and it looked nice, but no-one scored. Torres scored a great goal pretty much by himself. I think the flicks and things usually work against lower level teams with weak defenders and they can get a lot of chances, but when it comes to the higest level it only works once or twice and in that moment the player also needs to be clinical, which ibra isn't.

The second yellow, was for me correct. Maybe the contact was minimal because lucas pulled out of it somehow after flicking the ball away, but the way burdisso had gone through with the challenge he could have really hurt the player. Anyway wasn't burdisso the one who tried to kick kuyt in the nuts from the floor. Could have been red for that, the only balls there were kuyt's.

And my Inter (and Milan) friends agree that the better team over the two legs went through, and the best midfielder in the world is Gerrard Wink

I think it's a combination to be honest. Finishers need service and creators like Ibra need a finisher. Torres is far from clinical but he is in form, and is getting good service from Gerrard; and his pace and dribbling allows him to receive the ball outside the area and create himself a shooting opportunity.

Until Torres's goal I actually thought he was having a poor game. Everytime he tried to dribble he got tackled, nothing was really coming off for him. But his goal was top class.

I don't know why so many people are complaining about the red card. I thought it was definitely justified. Those two challenges were worthy of a yellow. Maybe another ref would have forgiven Burdisso in his second challenge since it wasn't that bad, but it was certainly very clumsy and if Lucas hadn't gotten out of the way it would have been a lot worse.

Benitez has proven yet again that he is a tactical genius. People may point to the red cards as being the catalyst for Inter's loss, but I honestly think Liverpool would have gone through anyway. They looked better than Inter in both legs even when Inter had 11 men.

So when Teddy f**king Sheringham does nothing for 80 minutes and then scores a goal he's quality, when Torres does it's a sign that he's rubbish.

The reason that Inter had Materazzi sent off was because they had to foul Torres to stop him.

For me, Torres is the best player after C. Ronaldo in the EPL currently.

Torres dived twice - I won't even debate that.

In doing nothing for 80 mins - do you mean not getting any decent service, or fucking up several promising situations Question

    Wash your mouth out!

Any position? He's one of the top 3 goalscorers but hardly better than many other players who operate in different positions in the EPL.

Well, best attacking player, but like I was saying in the Milan-Arsenal thread yesterday, the performances of players like Flamini/Sagna, among others, is going unnoticed because of their lack of headline grabbing stats. ie. goals.

But I tell you what...if Liverpool win the CL, and Torres scores a few in the Euros, then has good form in August-September, we'll be talking Balon d'Or along with Ronaldo and Ribery (but the same conditions of winning titles and doing well in the Euros apply for them).
