Thats what happened. Great game by Liverpool, its all over. There is no way Inter can overturn this at San Siro.

I can't blame Inter, it was never gonna happen with 10 men at Anfield. They fought well, but when Cordoba got injured, it was inevitable. We fought well for a draw, but it was not to be.

Very disappointed, but luck was not on our side with the redcard. $h!t happens sometimes. What can you do. Recent history has shown that whenever we go a man down in europe, we lose. Thats the way it is.

Next season, lets focus on the Scudetto this season. And lets go out of CL with our heads held high with a win at San Siro. There is nothing else to say.

I think Cordoba & Chivu were the only Inter players who put in some decent performance. Mancini was awful tactically. He should've got in Suazo for his speed & looked for hitting Pool on the counter

Should've stared with Vieira. Stanky and Cu.ntiassio did nothing.

Liverpool were deserving of victory but Roberto Mancini made a big f@ck up in not putting Suazo or Crespo on with at least 15 to go when it was still 0-0...

Ref ruined the game Inter cannot come back from this due to a complete lack of creativity.

I hate teams at the top level who create from the front - Inter and Chelsea out ASAP please.

Mancini is good at bludgeoning to death teams over rhe course of season with such a deep sqaud but they're never going to win the big one - he must go.

Should have got rid of the hoofers and played it on the floor. Only Vieira did that. Shameful display from Chivu - the best passing defender hoofing like he was Carragher.

Yeah. And anyway in the Scudetto, Inter does get the odd 'penalty' every now & then so it will be easier

Cordoba was brilliant. Chivu, Cesar, & Zanetti did their bit. Thats about it IMO. Liverpool played very well in the second half. It was over when Cordoba got injured, the goal was inevitable after that....

The sending off did spoil the game. Whilst Liverpool were much the better team before it came, whilst they pressured well throughout the match, didn't let Inter settle (the two early yellow cards for Materazzi and Chivu didn't help Inter's cause here), still the sending off forced Inter to sit and meant that for much of the game Ibrahimovic was isolated up front.

For me, the sending off was one of the most nonsensical decisions I've seen. Materazzi didn't even act stupidly - neither booking was for any valid reason. For the first, Torres just went to ground without the slightest contact; for the second, there was a minor initial tug by Materazzi, but it was barely deserving of a foul never mind a second yellow - again, and without there being any contact in the moment, Torres just dropped to his knees and looked for a free kick. I stand by what I said initially, in that if any player deserved to be sent off from the two incidents, it was more Torres than Materazzi. Perhaps his reputation preceded him, but there were a number of awful decisions that went against Inter in the first half.

Still, Inter didn't impress. Cordoba had a good game, Zanetti had a few nice moments, Maxwell was decent at left back, Ibra worked with no support. But Stankovic and Cambiasso were largely absent, Maicon was absent minded too often, Cruz was poor, Vieira was horrible, clumsy and unable to pass the ball properly. Gerrard was decent for Liverpool, Kuyt played well, Babel had a lively first half, Mascherano had a very solid game and played the best pass of the match early in the second half.

I like Inter and I think they should have it in them to do much better in the second leg, but Liverpool are big favourites now. If there is justice, however -

Is Cordoba's injury serious?

IMO, Materazzi getting sent off was always going to be a danger. Admittedly, his sending off was a ridiculous decision, but I wouldn't have started him in the first place. Though once Crouch came on (far too late), you could see he completely dominated the aerial battle, and that will cause Inter trouble in the return leg.

Yet again, extremely disappointed by the CL tho. Was hoping for a good game, and it was utter dross. The only team trying to win, is the same team that is so inept coming forward. Was a bore-fest.

Hoping for better games tomorrow, though I won't hold my breath.

Ibras chance? the only chance i remember was Cambiasso's and perhaps Vieira shooting well wide.

Maybe ur thinking of the Torres chance he created?
