Didn't Mancini learn from the 1st leg ?
Even if Liverpool aren't particularly adventurous, they love to squeeze things hight up the pitch. Which Inter players has the technique and dribbling ability to withstand such pressure ? Figo & Jiminez
Which Inter forward has the pace can get that Slow defence to turn around ? Suazo.
Babel and Torres
They will rape Inter's reserve defence on the counter, leaving COTR with about 5 years worth of "Torres can score in big games" amunition
Inter, Marseille, chelsea, porto
And you have an excuse for every one pierre

Re: Inter vs Liverpool discussion thread!!
How could you think that was a good game kas? It was $h!t! I tried to prevent myself from falling asleep all through the first half. Anyway, bad tactics from Mancio, should have started Jimenez instead of Stankovic. Chivu should have played at CB with Zanetti moving to LB and Figo playing on the wing.
Ibra was $h!t, much worse than Cruz and I can't believe you guys let yourself get sucked into his few flicks. Once again the man fails to show up when most needed. I disagree with Swarpy judging him on his goal tally this season. Zlatan provides much more than that, his creativity is unmatched and his link up play is sublime. He has had a fantastic season.
This was like every Inter game this season in Serie A except the roles were reversed. Justice served says I!

We have two world class players in the team. One is gerrard and the other is torres. Now rafa has found a formation to allow gerrard and torres to link together brilliantly. With gerrard in the middle you are restricting one of your world class players to defensive duties and losing out because of this. This is the reason we were not doing as well. It was not a direct result of gerrard being in the middle but it was a direct result of losing gerrard's skills higher up the pitch
See if you can get your head around that mate before getting back to me
Tell me something I don't know COTR! I have said for three years plus (Pierre can vouch for me on this, probably LRD too) that Gerrard's best position was floating behind the forward AWAY from central midfield BECAUSE he doesn't have the BRAINS to dictate midfield play. Gerrard's better reacting to the play rather than THINK about what to do. It's got nothing to do with Torres. You can even put CROUCH up front AND Gerrard will do much better floating behind CROUCH than asking Mr inspirational captain to THINK in central midfield.
YOU used to say Gerrard is at his best playing in central midfield. Some of you don't know the game I'm telling you. You think you know it though.
you didn't get it mate so I was telling you something you don't know
Let's just say rafa has realised that he can leave the grafting up to the less talented players and let gerrard get on with proving he is one of the very best players in the world
Gerrard could perform the role lucas did today incredibly comfortably. The problem is we would then have no one as good as gerrard to play further up the pitch. I hope this is now simple enough for you to understand

Sadly this is the same for Rooney, only judged on goals. But today Zlatan sadly wasn’t at the races.
Mancini now wants to leave the Club at the end of the season, do you blame him after today’s scandalous finishing. Thought Zanetti (legend) and Cambiasso had good games same for Gerrard & Lucas.

Everton game early in the season. Rafa removes the garbage from central midfield and puts in there a young player a foreigner by the name of Lucas making his debut in the league. The young Brazilian goes on to inspire Liverpool for the win. Do you not remember that match COTR! You must've forgotten what Rafa said in the post match interview regarding your hero Gerrard.

Rafa has been having a love in with gerrard for the past month puro. Get with the times
We were going to win that game regardless as you well know. We were hammering everton. That is a shockingly poor foundation to base anything on
You haven't even discussed my points so I can assume you have nothing to combat them with
Anyway let's just forget the hate and appreciate the two great performances gerrard put in over the two legs

Well done COTR Liverpool are finally playing well, it's only taken 6 or so months and you're only out of all competitions except one.
By the way you were not going to win regardless since you were very lucky to win in the first place against Everton

He was either giving the ball away or passing it backwards. Made a couple of defensive mistakes that nearly lead to a Pool goal. He would also make Lampard-esque runs into the box that lead to nowhere and tried to track back usually failing and was generally Cr@p. The worse CM in the game by quite some distance and one of the worse players on the pitch.Raiphael wrote:

Its very mature to judge a player based on a couple of games, specially when he is coming out of a long term injury and playing in a team which is in its worst form in 18 months

Congrats to Liverpool, you guys deserve to go through. Whatever some people say here, Liverpool did play 2 good solid games, and are in good form at the right time. Thats what you need to succeed in games like this, I cannot understand why anyone should doubt that Liverpool deserve their win.
I am totally gutted. I knew that the game was lost in the first leg, but its still hurts as much now.
Unlike some people here, I don't think we can blame the refrees... like Cambiasso said after the game, it is pointless. If we can blame anyone, its Materazzi and Burdisso who IMO are the main reason why we lost. Players like these need to be disciplined, and need to be more cautious coz of their reputations. The lack of maturity of some of our players is sickening (and now I include Vieira and Ibra), the amount of times we have played with 10 men this season is not funny.... as if the number of injuries this season was not enough!!! This has to stop!
Apart from that, I can't really blame the players or the coach. There were many players coming out of injuries (chivu, stankovic, vieira, Ibra, cruz, etc), and most of them worked hard over the 2 games... this is not like Villareal or Valencia, this is different. The team tried hard, we just had 2 idiots too many!

Inter prove once again they don't have the quality to win club football's ultimate prize.
In the last ten years, Milan have won 2 Scudetti and 2 Champions League titles. They have also played 3 CL Finals in total.
Inter have won 2 Scudetti and a UEFA Cup. We can draw our own conclusions as to their credibility.
43 years and counting.
Only for bluenine: Tough luck.

Re: Inter vs Liverpool discussion thread!!
My views regarding some of the things that were discussed:
About Ibrahimovic, my opinion is that he is a great player. I wish my team had a player like him. It's not the goals he scores, it's the goals he provides. And if you watch Zlatan week in, week out you know what I'm talking about.
And Cambiasso&Stankovic are definitely not $h!t. Shaz man, I dunno how serious you are when you make such bold claims but I can't really take them seriously especially when you say Vieira is Inter's best player. Anyone here who watches Serie A regularly knows that's far from the truth.
Congrats to Liverpool on a professional job, they're definitely one of the favourite teams to win it. And kudos to Bluenine for taking the high road, I'm 100% sure others would have followed Mourinho's example and put the blame on the ref for everything.

Re: Inter vs Liverpool discussion thread!!
I stopped watching after Torres scored...the goal was very predictable. Maicon decides to take a risk and bomb down the flank (probably the first time in the game he committed himself), but a Liverpool player makes a good block, their rub of the green means the ball bounces into their path, and after a good pass Torres produces a world class finish. Beautiful goal, really was.
Well done Liverpool...the two red cards (partly down to Inter's defenders and partly down to the ref) helped a lot, but the defensive performance (as expected) against an Inter team with no flair at all, was the key in the end.
----------------------------
@COTR: The more I watch Gerrard in this advanced role, the more I have to agree with Puro. He's just not a proper CM, but instead an attacking midfielder who does best without the responsibility of having to be intelligent and control a game. Your spin on it is that Rafa plays him there to capitalise on his strength in linking up with Torres, whereas Puro's spin on it is that Rafa put him there to negate his weaknesses in playing in a "normal" midfield position. I don't know which is true, but either way, I don't think there's any denying that Gerrard is only capable of living up to his world class tag (awarded by the English media) when he's in an advanced attacking midfield position
----------------------------
And finally, at everyone wanting to avoid Barça. With the injuries, lack of form, and low confidence in our squad right now, any of the other 7 teams have a good chances of absolutely walking all over us. I'm 90% sure we'll end up drawing an English team in the QFs, and 99% sure we'll go out to that team.
