Berlusconi has said (on SKY) that Zambrotta is close to becoming a Milan player. He wants to come, and he doesn't think there will be a problem negotiating with Barca.

I like how you went for Chelsea instead of your other favourite team Smile.

I think this has been in the works for a while. If Berlu is saying it, then surely Milan and Barca are in talks?

This is a disgraceful thing to say about an under contract player tbh...

Madrid are unsettling Kaka, what c**ts! Chelsea are unsettling Shevchenko, what c**ts!

Maybe because Berlu spends 90% of his free time trying to unsettle Barcelona players??

I am sick to death of your management.. If he goes back I hope we sell to Juve or Inter.. It's not like we want any of your geriatrics anyway.

You don't want any of our European Champions? Fair enough. I guess you will have to settle hanging on to the coattails of Real Madrid, as the irony of your galactico line-up hits you in the face.

    Anyway, I apologize for Berlusconi.

No surprise really, though it'll happen in the summer, not now.
12-15 million and you can have him, though we'd like it if Juve qualify for the CL and trigger a bidding war.

Zambrotta will never go back to Juve. I can guarantee you that.

The rumour in Italy according to a very respected agent, Luca Cattani, is that Milan and Zambrotta have had an agreement in place since November. The defender wants to come back because he owns property near Lake Como, and he hasn't had the best of times in Spain.

It has been common knowledge that Zambrotta will come back to Italy. The question was when. It appears the date is set for some time in June.

Actually, Cafu will retire this summer. That leaves us only Oddo for the RB. Janku and Favalli affraid have the left-back position. Zambrotta is versatile and can play either flank.

We do need a CB to replace Maldini. Berlu said they're looking for a replacement.

Zambrotta is a really good player, I'm a bit surprised he ain't performing that well in Barcelona. If we get him, I will be happy. We definitely need to improve our defence, so even if we do get Zambrotta we still need a new GK(Frey/Amelia/Boruc) and a CB as well. Plus a Pirlo alternative in midfield + a striker like Amauri and we are good to go. Smile

    ok

For your CB, if it wasn't for our own mass exodus in defense this summer, I would offer you Marquez. But with Edmilson, Zambrotta, Sylvinho, and Thuram all leaving for various reasons, we need to hang on to everyone for now.

We have Oddo, Cafu and Bonera for RB. Maldini, Favali and Janku for LB. Next summer sure, we could do with a RB-LB. But now we need a CB as Kala is just bad.

Don't get me wrong.. I am not saying you have a bad squad, it's just that I want young players, and there aren't too many of those in your first team.

As for Zambrotta, he should be available for around 15mill, and he has disappointed for us, despite his quality. His last game was very good, but far to often he gets caught between attack and defence and he struggles against technical wingers. I am happy to let him go as long as we get a really good replacement, and by that I mean someone who can attack. If we need to be defensive we can always stick Puyol out there..

(but please don't complain next time Madrid starts talking about Kaká, 'cause your management is equally bad if not worse)

Well we have to be fair about these things. I used to get riled up when Calderon would talk about Kaka every day, and the Schuster, and then AS etc. It took me a long time not to get pissed when reading those stories. I thought AS was a respected broadsheet. For example, Gazzetta would not resort to that. But Jaime told me that Marca is more respected.

But in the recent months, especially, Berlusconi has talked about Ronaldinho, even if he always qualifies it with "but he's not for sale". Erm

Ronaldinho is headed to Chelsea this summer. Ancelotti and Berlu confirmed that he will not be joining us.

    @Oleguer,

You do realise that Rijkaard has always been playing Zambrotta on the right, when before joining Barca (and probably even now) he was arguably the best LB in the world. Zambrotta is a decent RB as well, but IMO he is much better defensively on the left (probably coz he is naturally right footed), and also crosses the ball much more as a LB than as a RB.

The main problem with Zambrotta as a RB is that he tends to attack a bit more, cut in and take a shot with his stronger right foot... I guess thats from his experience as a Right winger during the first 5-6 years of his professional career (he has become a wing back only in the last 5 years, before that he was a midfielder). That leaves him (at times) in the wrong position if the possession is lost. On the left wing, he tends to cross the ball much more on attacks, and make much better challenges at the back, again as he is right footed (which probably confuses the opposition wingers who are trying to wrong foot him)... it is not easy to go past him as a LB.

We need a rightback that is willing to go deep and cross the ball. If he is cutting inside then he is just coliding with the forwards. Also I don't really see him doing much of either to be honest. He sort of just stops at the halfway line or a bit further up and hides. He doesn't make many runs, like Sylvinho or Puyol and is a lot weaker defensively than Abidal.

I don't really get it, but hopefully the game against Murcia is a sign of things to come Very Happy

I think going to Italy would be best. He's not really reached his usual standards at Barca, and he's far too good to be a bit-part squad player.

Don't be silly.... Zambrotta if only 30 years old, he can play for Milan for another 10 years!! Its a long term investment!

Jokes apart, 30 yr old's are good buys if they are world class. I wouldn't mind Zambrotta at Inter either, his versatility will suit us perfectly - he will just blend in. Zambrotta+Zanetti has been my World XI wingback pair for 5+ years now.

I think 30-33 is still a good age for a defender, even one who makes runs up and down the flank.
