apparently, the Italian PM whose immunity has just been lifted by the Italian courts, is thinking of selling his club Shocked

at some point Gaddafi was supposed to be interested, now the new suitor is an oil magnate from Albania, I think

I have NO IDEA whether this has been discussed anywhere yet

but frankly, BIG NEWS ITEMS like these deserve to get their own THREAD even if it only gets a few replies

so many interesting stories are not discussed on here because they are buried in club or other group threads

    think about it <Ale>

How on earth the Prime Minister of a country can own a football club as well as a plethora of TV channels has always baffled me.

He owned it all before he became prime minister, becoming the PM was only to get out of being prosecuted in the first place.

Anyway it has been discussed plenty in the serie A thread.

    @Dim Sum

you ain't too smart, it seems

if you want to REVIVE this place WITHOUT attracting new posters you need to open up CLOSED SHOP DISCUSSIONS

I am NOT the only one who will not click EVERY single club / "general theme " post to see whether it contains a nugget

my interest in the minutae of Liverpool/Real/Milan... business is VERY LIMITED

    I therefore NEVER go there

despite being interested in quite a few of some of their concerns

most of the time I am bored out of my skull when I hear about Hinguain, or whatever his name is

    THEREFORE

    OPEN IT UP

and start creating INDIVIDUAL NEWS ITEM posts

    once you have done it

have a fish and ships in STanley or High Tea at the Peninsula

    you deserve it

    @dickhead

I feel like a genius compared to you

i see your system is quantity over quality, i heard you wrote a good post 3 years ago, it's about time for another one don;t you think?

    as I said

    NOT TOO SMART

this has little to do with "quantity vs quality"

    but more so with

    "visibility vs invisibility"

    think about it like this

you have a gigantic department store, that says on the outside "Gigantic Department Store"

    or

you have a street with lots of different shop windows displaying all the latest goodies

    let's call it Bond Street

which shopping place do you think will find it easier to attract REGULAR, DAILY and NEW buyers ?!

I agree with Otto. Having logged on the first time in a few days, I can not be bothered to search through every generic club/matchday thread hoping to find interesting posts and not just the kind of injury update type ones that are only relevant to specific supporters. ok

I hope so too, for Milan's and Serie A's (and Italy's) sake. Tho it would give us one less reason to dislike Milan Razz

But unlikely. Berlu is very rich, he does not have to sell Milan to pay the fine. Maybe he will just do his usual - change the law and make bribing legal Berlusconi to sell Milan Icon_rolleyes

I would make Prodi President of AC Milan

Umberto Eco can become Chairman and the Italians of New York can buy it

    think about it

I like Otto's scheme but can't contribute in-depth on this. It seems like, bar a rediscovery of the love of the game by the king goblin, this may be the best immediate course for Milan. At the same time the moment of transition presumably bears some risks - a rubbish new sugar daddy now would be very unfortunate, but not impossible. tbh I have no idea how most Italian clubs are run (does everyone have a rich patron?), but it would be nice if a club like Milan could establish some kind of long-term security somehow.

I agree, he doesn't need to. But it will happen in the short to medium-term IMO. Marina Berlusconi is running the show now and she doesn't have any interest whatsoever in Milan. In fact she's one of the major reasons why the club has been so cheap in the last few years compared to the past, she said a few years ago that Fininvest would not blow money on Milan anymore.
