Hopefully, the way play now definitely suits the european game, but we have to prove it on the pitch.

Yep, its looking good, and like De Guzman said in another, thread you can probably play better and convert more of your chances. Van Persie should help with that.

Re: AC Milan vs. Arsenal Discussion Thread
I was watching the last 20 or so mins of this game (2nd leg) again over dinner today (had nothing else to do), and what really struck me was just how good Sagna was! I didn't see much praise for him, but he was all over Kaka like the plague and matched him backheel for backheel, turn for turn, stride for stride in every sprint.
I recall a lot of Arsenal fans (probably justifiably) being bemused at Wenger signing yet another RB last summer. But now I wonder, is he the most underrated in the "best new signings" lists for the Premiership this year?

Most Arsenal supporters have slated consistanly that he has ben one of the signings of the season but when you are a RB competeing with the likes of Torres, Santa Cruz, Anderson, Tevez, Elano and Bent than its hard to get the recognition. The performance against Milan was expected and hence not highlighted a lot. However it probably should have considering he has lost his brother very recently. IMO if you can keep up with Kaka's pace, it snot too difficult to stop him.kas wrote:I was watching the last 20 or so mins of this game (2nd leg) again over dinner today (had nothing else to do), and what really struck me was just how good Sagna was! Re: AC Milan vs. Arsenal Discussion Thread
On 12 July 2007, Sagna completed a move to Arsenal from Auxerre, for an undisclosed fee, thought to have been an initial £6.1m (€9m) that could rise to £7.45m (€11m).
The strange thing was signing another RB for £6m when you already had Eboue, who is a very good attacking RB but also a c**t.
Evra only cost £5.5m and he was more well known than Sagna.
But now it seems a very good signing for £6m and he would get into most peoples Premiership team of the season.

Re: AC Milan vs. Arsenal Discussion Thread
An important thing for us has been his aerial ability particularly when defending against long diagonal balls. His simple use of his left foot also give him more passing options than Eboue .Batman wrote:On 12 July 2007, Sagna completed a move to Arsenal from Auxerre, for an undisclosed fee, thought to have been an initial £6.1m (€9m) that could rise to £7.45m (€11m).

If it was only close marking and keeping up with Kaka, I wouldn't have been impressed. But when Kaka tried a cute little backheel, Sagna's reactions were super-sharp and his leg was outstretched to block it. Kaka does a 360 turn, and Sagna is in the right place to block the ball. He guess correctly with his positioning too.

Re: AC Milan vs. Arsenal Discussion Thread
I was one of those that questioned signing Sagna, not because I thought he lacked the quality (in truth I had barely heard of him and had no idea how good he is) but because I thought other areas of our squad needed improving first. I'm glad to say I was completely wrong!
He has been superb for us this season, very solid in defence and an asset going forward, particularly with his crossing. He fits our play perfectly, offering plenty of running down the flank, and has a good temperament. He just gets on with the job with the minimum of fuss (particularly compared to Eboue) and is very consistent. He played very well against Milan as you say kas, and that this didn't raise too much notice is a testament to the level he has been playing at this season.
