    Mad

Real Madrid hope to make Cristiano Ronaldo the world’s best-paid player in a bid to lure him from Manchester United.

The Spanish giants have upped their dirty tricks campaign in a desperate bid to land £40m-rated Portuguese ace Ronaldo.

And they have let it be known they will use club sponsors to put together a staggering £8m-a-season salary for the 23-year-old.

That works out at an unbelievable £160,000 a week, far more than any other player in Europe.

To sign Cristiano Ronaldo is a dream, but it is not impossible Madrid president Ramon Calderon

Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson will be furious at the latest tactics used by Madrid to unsettle their star player.

And all this at a time when the two clubs could easily still face each other in the final knockout stages of the Champions League. Madrid president Ramon Calderon is still telling fans that signing England’s Foot-baller of the Year this summer could be a very real possibility.

And to make matters worse for Fergie, Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has been holding meetings with Madrid’s sporting director Predrag Mijatovic, which has fuelled speculation.

Madrid are well known for making their interest in players very public as they try to destabilise them, and the club.

They did it before signing David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane, Brazilian star Ronaldo and a whole host of top-name players.

Fergie has laughed off the tactics in the past and mocked Madrid’s interest in his Ronaldo. But he will still be angry at Calderon and Madrid’s policy.

The La Liga leaders would want to keep 50 per cent of Ronaldo’s image rights if he made a move, but with the income tax in Spain virtually half that of England, the wage packet would be equal to £200,000 a week in the Premier League.

Calderon said over the weekend at a fans forum: “To sign Cristiano Ronaldo is a dream, but it is not impossible.”

The winger has scored an incredible 29 goals in all competitions this season so far and Mendes knows that he is in a fabulous bargaining position if he wanted a new deal from United.

Ronaldo only signed a fresh £120,000-a-week five-year deal with the Old Trafford club this time last year.

Mendes said in Spain: “Cristiano Ronaldo is the player most desired in the world.

“All the big clubs want to him, but he is currently with Manchester United and his future depends on this club.

“I am a football agent and I have meetings with people from Madrid and Barcelona all the time, but it is not always about Cristiano.”

Again we redbloods will have to refute robustly any idea of the wiz leaving to join the circus in Madrid.

He is NOT FOR SALE. And keep your little grubby hands free for mercenaries a la Robben, or redblood rejects a la Heinze and horseface.

All over the world redbloods have reacted to this story in anger, here is one from a fellow called 'in the shadows'

wanking donkey c**ts Real Madrid bastards and their 3rd class bastard son of an Aids ridden cheap ugly whore Calderone bleating, salivating, drooling and no doubt wanking over TRW again

Wasnt it Lyon chairman who revealed to the media that SAF is interested , the papers have repeated the story and put their links over and over again since then.

Ronaldo would be stupid to go to Real because he has a sterling career at Man U. IMO, they're the best club for his growth.

But I have a feeling this is going to happen in a couple of years.

I could possibly see it happening in 2010. He'd be 25, He would have 2 years on his contract left (so we can still get a huge fee) and would of been with us for 7 seasons.

Though if we are winning trophies then it may convince him to stay longer.

Actually, it's the opposite. He just said that signing C. Ronaldo and Kaka was impossible.

Jorge Mendes is Pepe's agent as well.

This was Florentino's tactic. Calderon isn't like that. He just pays whatever anybody asks.

In fact it may be the opposite - if you win the CL in the next 2-3 years, and then he finds that MU are having trouble winning it again, he'll move.

There's still only one club that can afford him and he would be willing to move to though - Real Madrid.

So it could also depend how they are doing at that time.

Nope, we can also afford him, esp. if we sell Ronaldinho (which is probably the only scenario we'd sign C. Ronaldo in anyway). And I don't see why he wouldn't be willing to move to Barcelona.

Well Real Madrid has always been his dream destination and it'd take a world record bid to sign him. Which is why I think he'd only move there.
