Lets be fair though, the decision to sign Benjani was a shocker. It was clear to everyone he was just having one of those seasons. Before the first half of this season, his scoring record throughout his career had been average at best.

The rules have changed and which ever coutry is top of the foar play standings gives a place to the club top of the respective league. BUT ive just read that Norway have just gone top if the euopean fiar play league so its not a given that an english club will get a place....GUTTED!

More rumours on this today, with some cryptic comments from Sinawatra saying he's not happy with the team's results in the 2nd half of the season, and "we'll evaluate in the summer".
Is it impossible to get someone who wants to fund a club but also has their head screwed on right? What does this guy want, Man. City to qualify for the CL within 1 season?

Maybe he's just disappointed (as a lot of Man City fans are) that an outstanding start hasn't been capitalised on. Maybe the evaluation he's talking about is a discussion with Sven about how to ensure next season's team is more consistent.

To be fair, I'd be pretty upset if I gave someone money and they went and spent it on Benjani.
Its like giving someone 50p to buy some sweets and them coming back to you with some dog food.

Quite possible, but the for the "evaluate" answer, the question he was asked was whether Sven would be sacked. Basically, I just feel that he shouldn't even be thinking about sacking Sven, so when such questions are raised, at least dispel the rumours, then in the background have whatever discussions you want with your manager. Perhaps he's just naive about how the press will treat these replies of his.

The man must want a different brand of football. Sven has not done bad at all for his first season if you patient. I think he wants results faster and Sven is a low gear in the transmisson box. good for hill climbing but nothing else. Interesting problem if your a city fan.

The comments sound like he just wants/expects instant success a la Abramovich. Does make you wonder how long he'll stick around if it takes a few more years before they get into champions league, or win trophies.

Nah i dont believe it still, Franky gets mixed up in most of his interviews cos of language probs. Our cheif exec said yesterday there is no truth at all in the rumours and Sven will def be staying in charge.
He better be cos i love the guy and will e very pissed off ( as will most fans) if we did sack him.

Yeah he is a bit mental but dont see how he could sack Sven, surly his advisors will tell him the fans will go mental if he does, alough he probobly plans on gassing us all on the last day of the season or something if we complain.

Okay, if he answered a question about sacking Sven with that 'evaluate in the summer' remark then he has slipped up. But maybe, like Goat says, it's a problem of him not speaking particularly good English. Or maybe like you say he's naive. Either way, not an award winning remark.
But I think Sven will be there next season. I'd be genuinely surprised if he was sacked, though modern football is a curious beast.

If you win us a cup at Wem-ble-y.

Bad news for ya, goats, if any of this is true.

The thing is that there are not more than a dozen coaches of this tactical caliber, they will always be in demand... thats why a Lippi or a Mourinho can so comfortably take a long break.... they just know that they will always be in demand.
If only City can give Sven 4-5 years to work on the team with tranquility.... I have no doubt that you will be a CL team!

Well yesterday Sven said he will be at city next season and loves the job so i doubt he will leave. I expect him to stay, if he did leave i would be gutted but i dont think he will go.

Re: Man City To Sack SGE
Thaksin Shinawatra last week insisted that Manchester City need more midfielders but today his club strengthened its strikeforce by agreeing a £20m deal for Brazilian forward Jô, guardian.co.uk understands...
http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,2275394,00.html
Thoughts on this if true? That's a huge fee for City to be paying for a relatively unproven player.

interestingly this has come out after their final home game - which means there won't be too much opportunity for fans to protest, but I wouldn't be surprised if this turns a lot of them against Thaksin.
