Ronald Koeman insisted he was proud of what he had achieved at Valencia despite leaving the club after just six months at the club.
The Dutchman parted company with the club on Monday evening, 24 hours after a 5-1 defeat at Athletic Bilbao.
Koeman did win the Copa del Rey earlier this month - but he has left Valencia in a woeful state in La Liga, with the club sat just two points above the relegation zone.
"I am going, proud of having won a title as important as the Copa del Rey and want to point out I have gained an experience but have lost something I was very enthusiastic about," he said in a statement.
Former Valencia player Salvador Gonzalez 'Voro' is the man who has been put in charge until the end of the season.
