Pareja was probably Argentina's best CB on show in the Olympics. I'd never heard of him before the tournament, but he looked very good.

Do you know how he is, Kas? Or do you know about him at all, Calidad? Or Jaime or Ole? Is he well? I don't know anything about him much, but I presume that, for us to be signing him, Coloccini must have given him a pretty big thumbs up - and that is reassuring.

Re: La Liga Summer Transfer Thread
Well, he always appears on scoresheets though not with any particular regularity during the season. He's a decent player I think but Depor have been so poor the past few years (except the 2nd half of last year) that it's difficult to judge exactly. At least he has age on his side, so if he adapts better than Luque (ie. avoids injuries and is helped by his manager) then he could be a good player.

Xisco is a young player, has featured fairly regularly in U-20 and U-21 squads for Spain. I haven't really seen that much of him though tbh.

Espanyol's signings are interesting.
Finnan & Pareja. Where will they play? They already have Jarque and Torrejion (sp?) Maybe one of them is off.

Quiet day in Spain today, just the City/Madrid/Villa/Robinho nonsense going around. I reckon 4 hours from now the 2 players will remain where they are.

Torrejon is out with a long-term injury I think. Finnan to replace (sort of) Zabaleta.

Cheers Jaime.
So Pareja will come in for Torrejon. Pareja looked very good at the Olympics, so I'm sure he'll be a good buy.
Finnan is decent, but a major downgrade on Zabaleta I feel.

I thought so he could only go there or Russia because there is no way Betis would of recouped half that transfer fee they paid for him.Jaime wrote:20:16 Confirmado, Sobis ya no es jugador del Betis. Apparently Milito's move to Genoa is up in the air, because the window closes at 19.00 in Italy and his paperwork didn't get processed in time.
So he's stuck going from Spain, where people *start* working at 19.00, to lazy Italy!

Bollocks.
Plenty of skill to go with that pace and quite a decent right foot for a left footer.
Generally no end product but he had one excellent season (2004/05) when Auxerre won the French Cup and had a decent run in the UEFA.
Kalou left and he was never as good (those 2 had a great understanding) + Guy Roux left.

Since then he has failed at Lens/Marseille lets see what he does in Huelva.(He should take this chance to do well because its a club where you can progress to a bigger club i.e Pongolle,Cacares,Martins).Pierre Littbarski wrote:EMPortuguese wrote:When he was at Auxerre?,Pierre i hope you are joking because he only had pace as for his end product it was shockingPierre Littbarski wrote:EMPortuguese wrote:At what? being injuredPierre Littbarski wrote:Jaime wrote:Kanga Akalé heads to Recreativo on loan.

Paul Butler fucked his career
Would have been an England international and that rarest of breeds - an English striker playing for a big 4 EPL club
Apparently he is signing for Bnei Sakhnin F.C. of Israel.

1. He did play in Spain - he is without a club
2. He did score the goals that got them promotion but chose to stay in Segunda with Elche as they were offering him a longer contract (very important for him as he has athiritis in his knees)
3. Let me guess - you didn't see him play in his teens (96-99) ?
EPL? Easily and prob top 4 - Pace, skill, height, confidence + as strong as Drogba.
If you didn't see him play before January 30th '99 (the day his career finished effectively) then you don't know the real Gifton.
