Doria should have won the game after all that pressure they put on Juve on the last 30 minutes. great performance by Maggio and Cassano as usual.

Deserved to win...two fucking penalties for Juve...still I suppose those 2 penalties cost Juve £20,000. Maggio and Cassano are unbelievable. Hopefully we can keep them both and build on from here. 6th place finish, UEFA Cup and a great season..amazing home form, losing just twice. The future for us is very bright. FORZA SAMP!

Maggio has had a great season, but Camoranesi and Di Natale have had as good if not better seasons.... Di Natale is far more likely to score of the 3, and is a confirmed starter for the Azzurri. Camoranesi, a player I don't fancy either, has had one of the best seasons, so he will not be ignored.Super Madrid wrote:You are better equiped to tell but if this has been the form of Maggio over the entire season then he should defo be going to Euros dont you think?West Ham e Sampdoria wrote:Deserved to win...two fucking penalties for Juve...still I suppose those 2 penalties cost Juve £20,000. Catania’s last five at home: DLWWL
They’re certainly not unbeatable at home, are they. Especially when considering the draw was with Siena and the two losses via Torino and Reggina, two teams which just assured safety last weekend. So while they may concede few goals, it’s easily a result for the taking.
Squads

Catania:
Portieri –
1 Bizzarri, 16 Polito, 18 Rossi.
Difensori –
22 Alvarez, 3 Sabato, 2 Sardo, 5 Silvestre, 21 Silvestri, 4 Sottil, 6 Stovini,
23 Terlizzi.
Centrocampisti –
17 Baiocco, 27 Biagianti, 9 Colucci, 8 Edusei, 20 Gazzola, 13 Izco, 19 Tedesco,
7 Vargas.
Attaccanti –
25 Martinez, 10 Mascara, 15 Morimoto, 11 Pià, 24 Spinesi.
Non convocati:
Iannelli, Ioime, Lasagna, Sciacca.
Key Injuries
• Juan is available, but I strongly doubt we’ll see him in the starting lineup. Though fantastic, OMR has been solid for nearly the entire year while throwing in the odd goal. There’s really no need to risk another injury to Juan and a needless substitution when the drop-off to OMR is negligible. On the bench for reserve use at best, I’d say.
• Doni is going, I’d bet my bottom dollar he plays.
Probable XI
-------------------Doni------------------
Cicinho---Panucci---Mexes---Tonetto
--------------DDR---Pizarro------------
-----Mancini---Aquilani---Perrotta----
-----------------Vucinic-----------------
It works, simple as that. Highly doubt Spal will mess with it.
* - If Panucci is any type of captain, he’ll give the armband to DDR.
Ah yes, Daniele De Rossi...It’s doubtful we would get few arguments against the notion that DDR has been Roma’s best player this season. He’s also been the best midfielder in the league and a candidate for best player. This has been the season where we’ve seen the full bloom of DDR; at a time when it was desperately needed with the injuries to Il Capatino. We needed him to rise to another level and he did. It’s that simple. And consequently, in the absence of Francesco, this has become his team. Whether he gets the arm band on Sunday or not is irrelevant. The man bleeds red and yellow, and his heart beats as Roma’s heart beats.
This is, without a doubt, a must win game. Roma has Daniele De Rossi leading them into battle, Catania does not. The man cares more than any of us could imagine. That is your difference maker right there.

Final day: What happens if...?
As the final 90 minutes decide the Scudetto, Champions League and relegation races, we give the low-down on the various scenarios.
Inter have a 77.7 per cent chance of winning the title, as even if the clubs finish on level points they have the upper hand due to a superior head-to-head record.
The Nerazzurri won 4-1 in Rome and drew 1-1 at San Siro in their meetings this season.
In the race for fourth place the odds are all in favour of Fiorentina, who have a two-point lead over Milan.
However, should the two sides finish level – with the Viola drawing at Torino and the Rossoneri defeating Udinese – then Milan would qualify thanks to the head-to-head record.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men were held 1-1 at San Siro, but won 1-0 at the Stadio Franchi.
The battle to avoid relegation intersects with the Scudetto race, as both title contenders face off with teams that could go down.
Catania will be secure if they manage to beat Roma, while Parma have no choice but to defeat Inter and hope for the best.
Empoli have one foot in Serie B already, as they must pick up three points and wait for the other results to come in.
The only thing keeping the Tuscans alive is their superior head-to-head record with Catania, thanks to a 2-0 victory at the Castellani and 1-0 at the Massimino.
There is also the possibility this battle could go down to goal difference in Serie A, as if Catania and Parma finished level on 37 points, then the head-to-head record is identical with a 2-2 draw at the Tardini and 0-0 in Sicily.
Having said that, Catania have a massive advantage in this area, as Parma would need to beat Inter by six clear goals.
Scudetto
Inter win if:
a) Inter beat Parma
b) Roma fail to win at Catania
c) Inter match Roma’s result
Roma win if:
a) Roma beat Catania and Inter fail to win at Parma
Champions League
Fiorentina qualify if:
a) Fiorentina win at Torino
b) Milan fail to beat Udinese
Milan qualify if:
a) Fiorentina fail to win at Torino AND Milan beat Udinese
Relegation
Catania stay up if:
a) Catania beat Roma
b) Parma fail to beat Inter AND Empoli fail to beat Livorno
c) Catania draw AND Parma fail to beat Inter
Parma stay up if:
a) Parma beat Inter AND Catania lose to Roma
b) Parma beat Inter with six clear goals AND Catania draw with Roma
Empoli stay up if:
a) Empoli win AND Catania lose AND Parma fail to win

Did Italy always use head-to-head? Why was Grant talking about "we should have a playoff to decide the title if two teams are level on points, like in Italy" ???

Italy always used to have a play-off, which I thought was the right system... Coz for important things like Scudetto, CL spots, relegation, etc you gotta have a difference of points to decide.
Only in the last couple of seasons it was changed to h-2-h.

Big day, big, big day that has great potential in becoming on of the greatest days of my life!
Plans for today you may ask?
-Every Serie A fan we know is coming to our house! Interista's, Milanista's, Laziale, you name it!
- A giant TV that will be showing the Catania Vs Roma game and another TV showing Parma Vs Inter all in the same room.
- We will also be listening to Zampa's famous Italian commentary on the radio. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWe2popzpDM
- My dad will be wearing his No.17 Totti shirt that he hasn't worn since, get this, June 17, 2001 - The last time we won the Scudetto!
- Laptop on my lap for the duration of the games to get any information needed throughout all the matches that may not be told in the telecast. I might even check out EMB for a few minutes to see what's going on!

Just saw who is officiating the game today - now I am really really worried!!! This trigger happy refree has given too many decisions against us this season, the 4 times he has officiated our games, we have drawn all 4!
This can't be good. Wy Rocchi, why now?????

'Anti-Inter' ref for Tardini clash
The referees for the hotly anticipated final Serie A games have been
announced and it’s bad news for Roberto Mancini in Parma!
The Inter boss has repeatedly clashed with Gianluca Rocchi, but the
official has been assigned to Sunday’s Scudetto showdown at the Stadio
Tardini.
Mancio was furious with Rocchi in the wake of their 1-1 draw at Genoa
earlier this season, when Portuguese talent Pelè saw red.

Another bad news for Inter - thunderstorms are expected at Parma, and at best the game will be played under rain... Inter's game depends on physical mobility, this is disaster.

Never has this collection of athletes faced a larger game with more on the line than they will experience when stepping onto the pitch in Sicily, and I am completely convinced that today we will see a level of ferocity unseen from Roma thus far this season.
Unfortunately, it’s not all in Roma’s hands, and Parma has become everyone’s second team. You would never bet against Inter to lose or even draw, but the Gialloblu proved themselves worthy adversaries in January and the new unrest in Milan this week, along with Inter’s history of choking, allows for a modicum of hope. And with that hope comes a little bit of Forza Parma, a lot of prayer and karma with the weight of the world on its shoulders. The overwhelming feeling for me is that Roma will come flying out of the gate and play to a level we don’t often get to see. I’ve spent some time this week thinking about which was the game of the year, I actually came up with three in three different categories, and I couldn’t help but to compare the feeling of this game to the ones agains Milan and Udinese. Yes, Udinese was nearly tailor-made for Roma tactically, but it wasn’t the opening efforts or domination which was most impressive. It was the reaction after the goal. It was the first time a Roma team gave the impression that we were watching champions. Calmly and coolly we absorbed the pressure of the goal, stepped our game up just one notch and proceeded to conquer Udinese and Milan as though it was our destiny. This will be another display of champions. This team has matured immeasurably, and it’s become quite clear at hand is not the same old Roma. We deserve this scudetto, whether we get it or not, and we’ll prove it in Sicily.
But most importantly of all? This one’s for Francesco. Bring it home for him.
Lastly, this ios likey to be Amantino Mancini's last game in a Roma jersey as he is suspended for the Coppa Italia. I know he will put on his big match boots for the last time at the club and works his heart out for a big new contract at another club, wherever it may be. Good luck in the future Amantino, you gave me a lot of joy.

Some of the guests have arrived so I must get going. I'd just like to say that this has been a wonderful season no matter what happens today. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
