And Lulu, I'm sure Villa would be worth more tha £25M, maybe I'm wrong but add to that his performance(s) in the Euros it will increase his valuation.

If we did try to sign him, we have to move very quickly and wrap up a deal cause of others become involved and a transfer war breaks out we have no chance of signing him whatsoever.

Hopefully Nando is doing a 'Gerrard' and is convincing him Liverpool is the place to be.

    Realistically, I believe that

    - we have no chance of signing Villa
    - we probably have a net transfer fund of no more than £15m in total.

On that basis, I'll only be happy if

    a) if we sign Barry we sell Alonso for at least the same amount of money
    b) we stop dicking around with squad no-marks like Dossena and blow some serious cash on a really good winger.

If we sign a striker, I reckon it might be Eto'o.

Roge, Dossena I'm more than sure will be our 1st choice LB. Only seen him a handful of times but he impressed me and is one of the best full backs around last season, just behind Catania's Vargas who is quality as well. He is a quicker and less injury prone version of Aurelio as attacking is his main strength.

Eto'o is a bit far fetched I believe. No doubting his qualities but I think he is out of reach for a couple of reasons.

I would love to see Roma's Mirko Vucinic sign for us. Afterall, Riise is in talks with Roma if you believe the Independent.

would be interesting since Vucinic can play as a striker or on the left of our 4-2-3-1, but Roma only just signed him last summer and will probably want double the €11m they paid for him. So no.

    I wouldn't rule it Glenda.

Riise is valued at £5M so add £15M cash and it is a very good offer which is more reasonable than expectations for going for the likes of Villa or Eto'o. And like you said he can play in various positions and most improtantly can score goals.

Only thing that concerns me is whether obviously Rafa is interested, our muppet Yanks and the cash available and lastly the new Yank Roma owner.

Is the way it should be. Van der Vaart would so be perfect in an ideal world.

    ok

Babel is injured for a while though isn't he? That's why I left him out and Kuyt in.

I've started warming to the idea of signing Barry - he's not a DM like Masch and to a certain extent Xabi. He'd offer us much more going forward, and it would mean that we could stop playing with two Defensive midfielders all the time. I would Love Van Der Vaart, but he's not exactly a left forward is he?

The best choice has to be Silva!!

Actually, we only own 51% of Vucinic, the other 49% belongs with Lecce. The agreement is €9-€10m more to activate the set contract between both clubs. Only if Roma refuse to buy off the remainder of Vucinic's contract will another club be allowed to step in and buy him, to which all the money would go to Roma because we own the majority of Vucinic.

No he isn't but I'm sure he can play there. We use 4-2-3-1 and not a 4-3-3. So in the current formation he would be perfect.

    Indeed

Silva is the first pick for me

Even a remote link to his signature would be great before we evitably fail to find the extra one or two million valencia are looking for to sell him Wink

I was also against the barry signing on the basis I think alonso has a bit extra quality, but barry has a bit more pace and consistency so I'm now pretty happy with it. Plus he can play basically anywhere across the midfield.

My summer can only be ruined now by us wasting 10 million on a downing or milner

Barry will be an improvment in the EPL for sure, not so sure in the CL but if we can improve in the league than great.
