    BUT

the Dutchification would be the end of Bayern Ale

Hoeness really seems to be chasing a STRIKER now

after Dzeko and Gomez the latest rumour is HELMES

if van Gaal is really not interested in NAMES and prima donna antics , and if quality is really paramount for team selection, this means Toni is OUT

the Italian will sit on the bench next season

in that case they might want to sell him NOW

    well

Jol and HSV started off a big passionate love-affair

but after he lost THREE out of FOUR games against arch-rival Bremen in 19 days, therefore losing THREE possible TITLES the relationship has cooled A LOT

this was followed by the DREADFUL loss against a lacklustre Cologne AT HOME in Hamburg that meant HSV were now unlikely to even play in the Europa League

Jol then committed a GIGANTIC mistake

he PUBLICLY criticised the HSV board for BAD transfer decisions saying " you cannot sell players worth over 40 million Euro, not reinvest the money and expect this NOT to affect you on the pitch"

the Dutchie was now entering the blame-game, effectively saying the Board were responsible for the drop in form

predictably, this did not go down well with Beiersdorfer and Hoffmann and they let it be known that there was no reason to extend Jol's contract in the near future (it expires next season)

bearing in mind that STEVENS ended last year's season in FOURTH, Jol clearly UNDERACHIEVED by reaching FIFTH

even more so , considering that traditional titel challengers Bremen, Schalke and Leverkusen were piss-poor this year

HSV should have benifited from that and reached the CL EASY

I can now imagine HSV being happy to let Jol go , IF they get somebody like Schuster or Slomka

under normal circumstances I would have predicted HSV to sack Jol next season unless he reached a top FOUR position

anyway, Jol seems to love Hamburg, as does his family, so I don't think he will join Ajax unless HSV give him the shove Ale

    Post by ginola999 Mon May 25, 2009 1:40 pm

How can Jol have under achieved based on HSV finishing 4th last season. They only got 54 pts last season and as Jol points out, went on to sell their two best players. This season they got 61 points, which they've only beaten once before in the last 20 years! They also got to the 1/2 finals of 2 Cup competitions. Last year Wolfsburg got the same points as them. This year Woflsburg got 8 more. Do the HSV board not think that VDV and De Jong are worth at least 8 points? Also HSV played 7 more games than Wolfsburg in the 2nd half of the season.

I don't expect fans to be so rational as they think emotionally, but the HSV board should do their homework and realise how lucky they are to have Jol. Do they think another coach would have done better? Have they seen the limitations of having the likes of Silva and Jarolim in CM? Which of HSV's strikers is going to score 20+ per season in the Bundelsiga? How on earth could the HSV board have expected anything more and how anyone can think Jol under achieved is beyond me. If Wolfsburg sell Dzeko and Mislimovic, do you think they would have done as well next season even if Magath were still there? There is only so much a coach can do. If you sell your playmaker and replace him with a Brazilian who didn't suite the Bundesliga, then you are in alot of trouble. If you sell your best DM and replace him with a Brazilian CB, then you can't expect to improve.

Gomez supposedly has a clause in his contract that would allow him go to Bayern (or a foreign club) for 30m Euro. Bayern are willing to pay that amount, which would make Gomez the most expensive Bundesliga transfer ever.

Anglo will be delighted to read that. Rolling Eyes Wink

Hoeneß just said on Blickpunkt Sport that they won't go into the new season with 5 strikers so I think you will offload Toni back to Italy.

He also said that if Gomez joins them and Ribéry stays then you won't be able to afford Sneijder unless you find a "Geldscheißer" who helps you out with some pocket money.

First priority is a FB, and here they look for a RB as they prefer to play Lahm behind Ribéry ( ok ). This very much rules out a signing of Zhirkov IMO.

Second priority obviously is a goalkeeper. Hoeneß was asked about Frey, but he doesn't seem to fancy him.

here are some other names for Bayern

    http://www.spox.com/de/sport/fussball/bundesliga/0905/News/gomez-flirt-mit-bayern-muenchen-wird-heisser.html

apparently, Borowski could be on his way to HSV Ale

    off-loading Toni would be brilliant

the number of 100% chances he missed this season is ridiculous

Toni WITHOUT Klose is a nothing-player

    Klose >>>>>>>>>>>> Toni

    -------------

    as for ginola

I think Jol will stay now that HSV play in the Europa League

considering the Klinsi-hiatus at Bayern, and the melt.down at Leverkusen, Bremen AND Schalke,

HSV COULD and maybe SHOULD have won the Bundesliga title this season

Hoeness considered them to be the NUMBER ONE COMPETITORS FOR A VERY LONG TIME

this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and Jol blew it

    VDV's departure IMPROVED HSV overall

Jol does not see it that way, but it's the truth

de Jong and Kompany are hardly top-notch either

instead HSV got Jansen and , really, Trochowski, who only played a bit-part under Stevens

the fact that Jol treated the Troch like SHITE and never used him to his full potential pisses me off the most

for the last game Troch did not even start Yikes

and was brought on towards the end at 2:2 when HSV would have been out of Europe

the Troch then scored the ALL-IMPORTANT goal and SAVED Jol's butt

Jol made MANY tactical mistakes and his manmanagement was poor as well

I would have to give this some thought , but it's possible he would not even make the top 50% of managers in my book

anyway, usually the second year is when you judge a manager

let's hope he survives that one

he is a nice lad after all

HSV will NEVER win the title with him though

In defence of Jol, I think Trochowski has a bit of an attitude problem. Benching him was obviously more of a pedagogic activity to get the best out of him. I don't blame him for that.

    you hate Polish men Biggrin

did you read the funny Poldi story ?

he left the Allianz Arena with a gigantic Poldi PLAKAT under his arm

asked what he was doing , he said

(to ENglanders, Poles are famous for stealing in Germany )

    Poldi is REALLY funny

asked whether he had seen Klinsi on Jauch , he said, he had, "mit der Giraffe und so"

    lol!

there is a great picture where Sagnol, Oddo, Heynckes and Poldi stand next to each other for their OFFICIAL FAREWELL (with flowers in hand)

Poldi is GRINNING, the other three look sombre and sad

you have my word on it Ale

This was Troch's best season yet, so Jol must have been doing something right. And to say HSV should have won the title is insane. Their squad was neither good or big enough. Show me the thread where you said at the start of the season that HSV should win the title. I suspect you never did. In fact no one gave them a chance, especially after the sold VDV. To say selling him improved them is insane. The only reason anyone started to speak of HSV as title challengers is because they over achieved. When over acheiving teams fall short, football fans and pundits tend to have short memories and forget that they never rated them in the first place. Sometimes a club is a victimof it's own success. This eason HSV were a classic example of that. They did well in all 3 competitions, but didn't have the squad strength to manage it.

Have you ever seen Da Silva and Jarolim play football? How can a team dominate possession with players like that in the middle of the park? In fact, aside from Troch, tell me one technically gifted midfielder HSV have. Would the likes of Pitroipa, Tavares or Benjamin get anywhere near the starting line up of Hertha, Woflsburg, Bayern or Stuttgart? And as for their defence do you honestly think the likes of Rheindhart or Gravgard belong in the back 4 of a side challenging for the Bundesliga title? HSV might be a big name club, but their squad is very poor. It was pretty average last season, but that was before they sold argubaly their 3 biggest names.

It's easy to HSV will never win the title with Jol, as no one has won the title with them for 25 years.

    pity about Jol

    he is a good guy

apparently, he wanted HSV to spend BIG this summer and the club CEO did not see it that way

anyway, as I said, in sporting terms this is NOT a big loss, even if I would have wanted to see what Jol can do in season 2

HSV could now go for Schuster or Slomka

I would not be surprised , if HSV found another Dutchie

And Ajax will have to pay a transfer fee for Jol as well according to Bild. Considering Jol was the most expensive coach ever for the HSV, I guess he will indeed become quite expensive for Ajax as well, even more if he really gets a 5 year contract.

That comes as a surprise. Shocked

I thought Axe was only joking about Jol leaving Hamburg... :

No good news. Despite his tactical flaws he displayed this season, I think he was a good coach for them. Neutral

    @ Otto

Pfft, as someone who's ex-bf is Polish, who studied and lived in Poland and has lots of Polish friends I repudiate any accusation of not liking Polish people. Very Happy

And, yes I read of Poldi's Plakataktion.

    lol!

Is halt scho' goldig unser Poldi (the Poldi without the slapping that is).

Neuer; Srna, Lucio, Demichelis, Lahm; Tymoschuk; Schweinsteiger, Sneijder, Ribery; Klose, Gomez

Subs: Olic, Toni, Görlitz, Breno, Sosa, Altintop, Ze Roberto, van Bommel, van Buyten, Baumjohann, Butt

Better, but not good enough. Central defense needs some fresh blood. Doubt Hoeness has realized that though.
