Pretty boring, two teams playing for the 0-0, but Italy got the job done, as they clinched top spot with no suspensions, injuries and didn't extend too much energy.

Sibon scores goals, Makaay is a waste of space just like that piece of garbage "De Guzman" that you lot have been hyping to high heaven
(Sibon is pretty Cr@p too I'll grant you that, but he's an anti-hero who's delivering against the odds.....you gotta love that )

Re: Olympic football tournament
De Guzman is the ONLY one in that team that can give a pass! Foppe uses him the wrong way on the right side. Drenthe cant and hipshot cant do that as well!
Makaay is injured! He was the killer in this team before the olympics. Sibon is just Cr@p.

1-0 full time. Comfortable victory and we're through!
Hit the woodworkd three times.
Dembele was very good again, as was Vertonghen - in a couple of years, i'd like him at Arsenal.
What do people think of Mirallas? He works the falnks very well, making intelligent runs and has a good touch, but he really needs to be more clinical if he's gonna develop into one of europes top strikers.

Mirellas is a great player, reminds me a lot of Sulejmani. But he doesnt score as much.
He has to leave Lille though.

Olympic quarter-finals draw:
Italy v Belgium
Nigeria v Ivory Coast
Brazil v Cameroon
Argentina v Holland
While there are no easy games, its a good thing that by topping their group, Italy have avoided Brazil and Argentina before the final. Also, with Holland finishing second, italy won't face them in the semis - tho that may not be an advantage as IMO Nigeria is a tougher opponent.

Re: Olympic football tournament
I'm quietly confident for this game. This Belgian team is very similar to the one that reached the semi-finals of the European under 21 championships. They are technically good, although probably not as good as the Italians, and battle well. Most importantly, the group knows each other well and plays together as a team which could allow them to beat more illustrious opponents.

I'm secretly supporting the Belgians in this tournament
They've got an ace team, Belgian football needs a boost....and I almost can't be arsed to support our bunch of losers anymore

Re: Olympic football tournament
Yeap, there are no easy games after the group stage. At this age these African teams are just more physically mature than Italy. I hope we dont play Ivory Coast in the semis because having watched both of their games they were unlucky to lose to Argentina and deservedly beat Serbia.bluenine wrote:Olympic quarter-finals draw:

Re: Olympic football tournament
Belgium will be quite a handful... they gave Brasil a good fright, and only went down fighting in the end down to 10 men... They have a very decent defence and fighting spirit. Italy-Belgium could easily be a 0-0.3zycupid wrote:Yeap, there are no easy games after the group stage. At this age these African teams are just more physically mature than Italy. Italy should have taken 3 stars from their senior team.
