It's a typical CDA compromise. FIFA do not want Olympic football to become too big; IOC want the best possible quality players possible, so we're stuck with U23+.

Think our U23+ is worse than the original team which qualified at the U21 EC. Sibon should only play if Makaay is injured or when we need a crowbar.

With this squad 4-1-4-Makaay or 4-2-3-Makaay makes most sense.

At least he took Beerens & Maduro off. Amazing Sibon is still on the pitch / Foppe still sticks with 4-4-2.

edit: he moved Maduro a row back, he's still in the team Sad

Belgium commentator mentioned Feyenoord had 14,000 at the first training & says lots of Belgian clubs would kill for the same amount of seasonn ticketholders / attendence for a normal match...

we were playing witha 'B-team'. Internationals like Gio, De Cler, De Guz, Makaay & quite a few others were not available yet. Of those who played, only Tomasson & Landzaat will probably start this season.

Better worry about Sparta. Saw & heard Foeke Booy on Rijnmond doesn't sound like he's happy.

Nothing to be afraid of. We always lose our first 8 games or something so there is no point getting my hopes up.

    looks like :

    Makaay - Sibon

Drenthe - Bakkal - Maduro - De Guzman

    Pieters ? - Marcellis - Jaliens - Zuiverloon

    Velthuizen

    to me....

There's not enough energy in the team to begin with and Maduro is shite as usual Erm

That's because he's freaking played out of position as support sitrker. Makaay needs to be used doing what he's good at: lead the line. Was not a coincidence he scored the previous match, after Sibon was taken off & Makaay became point man in something 4-5-1-ish.

We have 1 worldclass player in the squad, let make sure he plays his fav position. Better for our young midfield too.

We scored twice now; twice after the poor man's Vennegoor went off.

I'm agreeing with you that Makaay should be used to his strenghts : a lone fox in the box, who can also lay off to upcoming midfielders if necessary.

Ridiculous to blame it on Sibon.

2/3 of the team has been subbed off Doh

We need players like Babel & Beerens who have pace, a few tricks.....but most importantly : keep play wide.

We also need to redo our entire central midfield.

De Guzman, Bakkal & most importantly Maduro off ok

I'm blaming it on the tactics we have no 4-4-2 team. That's why we play poor. Sibon happens to be part of that wrong 4-4-2.

Midfield can keep the ball, because we get outnumbered / overpowered because Sibon is playing. I'm not blaming Sibon, I'm blaming Foppe. Even if Sibon was playing the tiles of the roof he shouldn't be playing.

This team begs for 4-2-3-1 & hope for the best.

Now to decide who to play in that 4-2-3-1.

Luijkx and Sno looked better than expected Shocked

    Velthuizen

    Zuiverloon Erm - Jaliens - Marcellis - Emanuelson ?!

    Luijckx - Drenthe

    Beerens - Sno - Babel

    Makaay

Pieters didn't add much to the team, Emanuelson did....but he's a defensive liability...

This team is still to attacking, we really could have used Geert Arend Roorda ok
