The clown who is commentaring for Sky said during the first half that Domenech 'knows that (Gallas and Abidal) are not good enough to cope with (Kevin) Doyle'' and just now, as Doyle was subbed, that he's been ''largely ineffective''. I want my subscription money back.

Anelka 0 - 1. It hit an irish player (St Ledger?) en route though.

Abidal gives the ball away in the box leaving an Irish player (Keane? McGeady?) one on one with Lloris, who makes a brilliant save.

ooh handbags between the players after the final whistle. Dunne v Sagna, Gourcoff v Andrews.

Both this and Slovenia v Russia finely poised for the second leg, should make good viewing for neutrals. I'd say Slovenia match is a more likely candidate for an upset.

We keep getting linked with him. If he's good enough for a Championship side he must therefore be good enough to play against France elephant

Well, the players deserve an applause for making it this far. Especially that last 4 or 5 games, they are really giving their all. Still we are not functioning as a team.

Ireland made it here with those players so you cant say much. But when you think the likes of Reid, Ireland and co are sat at home while leon best and some other blokes ive never heard of are out there you gotta think it was always doomed to go wrong.

You were the better team, Ireland had the better chances. Draw probably would have been fair but I want to see France in the WC so don't really care about the result.

The ref was very good. It appears there is at least one useful german on the planet.

Footage shows it was Andrews who started the nonsense after the final whistle. And it was Lassana Diarra not Sagna.

Good half from Ireland. They even played some football at times.

France are a bit of a mess which will hardly come as a surprise.

No one knows. Still he was comfortably the best French player on the pitch, even apart from that deflected shot. MOTM.

Gourcuff played his worst game for France tonight. Only Domenech knows why he didn't call up Nasri(he's got the talent to displace Gourcuff from that position).

Abidal - what a clown lol!

He'll send France home at the world cup if Domenech continues picking him.

What would be even better is if Domenech got sacked. Holding out for an Ireland win in the second leg.

From a completely selfish perspective I'll be quite pleased if France didn't qualify, our back 4 will have a proper holiday next summer then. But I think they will ......though you never know with that useless git managing the team.
