Come on now, don't beat about the bush... Are you saying that you believe Robbie Keane who was purchased in the summer for just over £20m will be sold 6months later which would be for a highly reduced fee, during a notoriously difficult market to buy and sell players?

So you think he will be off in January then?

Re: Liverpool Football Club 08/09
I don't think it's that ridiculous a suggestion...reports suggest that you've only paid 10m of the fee so far, and Redknapp is clearly interested in bringing him back.
To twist your own statement - in the current economic climate do you think Liverpool's owners would want to keep a 20m player who's nearing his 30s and is showing no signs of adapting, instead of cutting their losses and getting what they can out of that 10m?
Don't get me wrong, I was one of the first ones to post in that thread during the summer saying I firmly believed he would be a success at Liverpool. Always rated the guy, but it seems for psychological and tactical reasons, he just hasn't fitted in.

& because he's just a little bit sh*te.
He's never had a better record than 1 in 3 in all the clubs he's played for bar Spurs and Wolves. One club was in the Championship, the other he scored half of his goals through penalties.

XABI WANTS REAL CHALLENGE
18 December 2008
Xabi Alonso admits he would relish facing Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League.
Real are the current Spanish champions but finished second in Group H behind Juventus - and are thus one of five teams Liverpool could be paired with in Friday's draw.
Ties against Villarreal, Lyon, Inter Milan and Sporting Lisbon are also possibilities - but Alonso is quietly hoping for a trip to the Bernabeu.
The 27-year-old told Liverpoolfc.tv: "Of course, we always want to go to new stadiums. For example, we haven't played at the Bernabeu with Liverpool and it would be a good venue to play at.
"We have been back to Spain four times since I have been here. We won at Deportivo La Coruna and Real Betis, as well as Barcelona, and drew with Atletico.
"Hopefully if we go to Spain we can do the same again.
"Whoever we get it will be welcome, but if we get Real it will probably be more welcome."
Liverpool's training schedule ahead of Sunday's game against Arsenal means Alonso won't watch the draw live.
He added: "We will be training at Melwood - someone from the staff will come out and tell us the news when the draw has been made.
"The ones we could face are all good teams."
It's like he already knew

Absolutely relishing this one... definately going to be hounding down some tickets both home and away if possible.
Would love to say a big f@ck you to Real Madrid, absolutely despise so much about that club, stripped almost of any identity other than their sheer arrogance that they should have a devine right to trophys and players...
Still it is a marketing dream, the two most successful clubs in England and Spain meeting... the only issue i would have is following Valencia drubbing us, the heirarchy at Anfield knew Benitez was their man, should the same take place against Real, we know how persistant they become when they want something.

Re: Liverpool Football Club 08/09
Quick stop back for dinner before I head out again, but thought I'd post my thoughts on the game today.
Thought we played pretty well… before the sending off. Yes, we would all have settled for a point at 4 o'clock but with Cesc injured and when Adebayor got sent off +, my first thought was Lucas off, Babel or even Benayoun on.
As soon as I saw Riera's number coming up, I knew we had settled for a point Many of the Reds felt that as well.
Lucas(who played well though loves a foul) lasting until the 88th minute beside Alonso was just plain Cr@p. Yes I'm happy with where we are in the league. Yes I think Benitez is an awesome manager but YES I think his tactics(subs more so than anything) could cost us the title + the players not bloody concentrating and being calm. I wanted to say this in the Champions League draw thread, but we are generally poor against 10 men it’s just fact. We are not an Arsenal, United or even Chelsea in the creative department.
Feels horribly dirty saying this but I’ll be a pledged Everton supporter for tommorow night. Though knowing a few people who have BS supporters in the family, some are saying they'd rather lose v Chelsea so to help them knock us off our perch. No doubt they will bend over for Chelsea...
Shame Masch wasn't playing. I only just learned he came down with the flu. Mascherano would have destroyed their attacks, like Momo playing againist Aresnal is just tailormade for hima nd his style of play.
The defending for RVP's goal was quite sloppy it must be said but credit where credit is due, twas a class take and finish by the rapist.
Very difficult but class finish from Robbie. He needs to push on and gain some momentum now. The goal shut(for a brief time) those idiotic Arsenal supporters(they were truly out in force today)
Emilano Insua>>>> Javier Zanetti
The lad was pure class. That performance was so like a Zanetti performance. I've had absolutely no doubts about him making the step up. Still early days like, but very very promising. He's exactly what you want from a fullback really. He's a stocky little fucker with a low centre of gravity, gets tight to his man, when he has the ball he's always looking to go forward with it if the opportunity is there, and if it isn't he has the awareness to pick out a pass instead. Lovely. Also has a wonderful turn of pace. My MOTM.
Hopefully this performance(and the one v Blackburn) nails down the LB position for himself now.
Torres and Skrtel back possibly next match day or the next one after that, things will improve performance and results wise with lovely Fernando back

It's just pure and utter frustration on his part. He trys to protect the team as much as possible from critisism, but this often leads him to blaming the opposition, referee, pitch etc ...
The "I think Robbie Keane should have been sent off in the first minute for his foul on Gael Clichy" comment was plain nonsense I admit that much.
However every manager in the league comes out with the old "we would have won if it wasn't for the sending off" chesnut.

Re: Liverpool Football Club 08/09
Abracababeyor is moaning about Arbeloa's reaction, as if you aren't going to react of having an arm flung in your face. I'm sure plenty of Arsenal players have/would reacted similarly.
Wanger seems to be rewriting history and has managed to convince himself of what would have happened had Adebeyour stayed on the field. The Arsenal midfield looked excellent after the sending off, but you can't say they were playing the same way with 11 men. Wanger should be thanking the referee for helping him salvage a point.
