psh where is Delio Rossi? He got Lazio to the top of the table on a budget of about 7 euros.

Ancelotti is ok, but its all well and good when you have Kaka, Sheva, Nesta, Pirlo etc.

I think s4p knows that. it is rather commonly accepted that english managers aint worth much outside England. what i dont understand is why more english coaches dont try to make it abroad. i mean Italy has succesful coaches and a great league but you still see them trying other places.

On topic for the thread, I'd also add Almeria's manager...and I've been fairly impressed by what Lotina has managed to do at Depor since taking over. They don't concede many goals, seem to pick up points regularly, and instead of spiralling into dangerous territory with relegation and financial problems, made it into the UEFA this year.

you seem to have done the other ones on recent starts, so why Verbeek? I know you like the way he talks about football and he seems like a nice chap I fail to see what is so special about him.

I rate vGaal, Sollied, Heerkes and yes, I pretty much rate Booy.

4 & 5 were a joke. At the moment I rate my 1-3 the highest. Dunno in which order they should be.

van Gaal should be in the top 5 too, dunno about the 5th.

What's it about Sollied that convinced everybody. Think he benefitted from a great inheritance like Maaskant.

On Wetzel think he did well with VVV earning them promotion & didn't expect him to stay up with the team he had. I judge managers on how their teams do on the pitch, does it look like everybody knows what to do. Staan ze goed etc.

It seems silly now that Napoli is playing so good, but I've mixed feelings about him...

Reja is a classical italian style coach, experienced, pragmatic and no-nonsense type, but for me is quite an average guy.
Imho Napoli recent success has more to do with mastermind technical director Marino than with him.

I picked younger guys like Zenga, Mazzarri and Beretta over him cause I think they have more spices in their bag.

Only saw this weekend's match v Juve. Was impressed by Napoli's very modern (Reja is 60-odd isn't he) 3-2-3-2 & the way they executed it; or does Marino deserve the credits for their tactics too?

Like Abundance, I didn't rate Reja till last year... but the last 12 months or so are making me change my mind... he has been tactically very astute, old traditional italian style, and has managed to guide a bunch of assembled young talents into a well oiled team. Thats a good manager. Lets see where Napoli end this season, but if its in the top 5 then Reja should make the top 5 in coaches for me.

As I said, I've a sympathy for the managers I put in the list... and maybe some negative bias for Reya.

Last year at times his lineups and man-management didn't convince me fully, and his system appeared to me like a good but conventional 3-5-2
This year I've yet to see a full Napoli game so I'm probably missing on their progresses.

It can be I'll have to eat my list in the next months - for the record, I read a Lippi interview yesterday where he totally agree with De Guzman, saying that Napoli is showing the most sparkling and innovative football in Serie A so far this season.
