He has also played for the 2nd most successful side in England, Manchester United and captained his national team.

Kaka, Ronaldinho, Pirlo, Gerrard, Lampard, Cole, McManaman, Ronaldo, Zidane, Keane, Scholes, Figo, Giggs, Shearer, Bellion and Seedorf have all felt the benefit of his beautifully weighted balls.

Are we talking about the players' form when he played with them? Because then Ronaldinho or Cannavaro (or even the injured Nesta) shouldn't be anywhere near these teams.

A bit unbalanced starting XI, but Becks has played with so many legendary AMs!! I am obviously not considering the form of players when Becks played with them, tho only in Maldini's case I am considering the age.

RVN is way much better than Alan 'overrated textbook striker' Shearer. Shearer is less favorable because he only play in EPL unlike the other strikers in other formations

He's not though. He has a better scoring record, mainly because he's a poacher that has spent his time at clubs that create shit loads of chances.

@ Pras Gallagher, I don't think Shearer is overrated. He was a great player and the reason the silly Geordies love him so much is because they saw him every week. He was always a good player for England, he would be perfect for the modern Premiership. You'd be hard pressed to find an informed neutral who could choose between him and Ruud.

Super Al was good in the EPL, but never tested in Serie A or La Liga so never know really good he was

Maradonna was never tested in the EPL so we don't know how good he was either. Neither was Zidane.

It beggars belief that both can have been regarded as great players...

to be fair to Shearer, he proved himself internationally.
