There needs to be a group of new hungry players brought in during the summer.
Look at Mourinho's first season Tiago, Robben, Cech were all new players with something to prove and along with high cost but hungry signings like Drogba, Carvalho and Ferreira helped to win the league.

Bingo
I fully admit that I overrated Chelsea at the start of the season, even accounting for no Essien & Robinho. I could hardly be blamed for it though, seeing how close they came to winning three trophies despite all the turmoil last season. Chelsea have reached the end of the line, and I'm sorry, but what about the supposed leaders of the squad, Terry & Lampard? They just seem to be in it for themselves. If Terry had a scored from 12 in Moscow, Grant would have a job. If he scored from 3 on Saturday, Scolari would still have a job.
There's too many players who have got comfortable, and have indulged too much in their success. This is hardly a new thing. Barca saw it with R10 & Deco, Milan have fallen off the slope in Serie A because they've barely changed anything. Madrid will never come close to winning the CL again as long as Raul is still the centrepiece.
Didn't Man Utd get rid of 1st Becks, then Keane & RVN to shake things up? People win things, they get a bit comfy, and then motivation falls if you want a continuation of, then change is needed, a shot in the arm. It's natural. Even Zidane got sold!
Teams are at their most dangerous when the main players have something to prove (see Liverpool). Right now Man Utd are full of hungry newcomers who want to build their own legacy. In time some (CR7) will get sold on for exactly this reason.
