Maybe you're right and I'm being too harsh. I do like the guy and think he got a bit of a short shrift.

Re: Chelsea sack Scolari!
Yeah think it was great stuff and very on point with what others say. He certainly understood the problems and I think that he could have been the right manager for Chelsea in the summer when a clearout would have to be done. Still could have done better with subs and choices of line up.Glenn Hysén wrote:that's a pretty awesome interview, you don't usually get such a frank and candid reaction when a manager leaves a big club.
Of course there's a lot of bravado in there but would you expect anything less?

Re: Chelsea sack Scolari!
I don't believe in making excuses, especially after the fact. Same with Adams who was going on about how he didn't have any money and had to sell Defoe and Lass. Well, he wasn't exactly doing great before he sold them either. Scolari is just finding convenient excuses to make for the fact that he wasn't up to the job. When Grant came in he didn't get to make any real changes to the squad. He just got to work with what he had and did alright.

well the world isn't black and white Jaime, forgetting the fact that Avram had a better, younger squad with the likes of Wright-Phillips to call on, the presence of Michael Essien into any side is enough to bump you a league place or two.
Comparing Scolari to Tony Adams, when Chelsea lead the title race for half the season, is ridiculous to say the least.

Re: Chelsea sack Scolari!
It ain't always that simple Jaime. first of all Drogba(their best player) didn't seem to want to be there at all which I think meant quite a bit. I think Scolari didn't do well enough with what he had but at the same time I don't think he had the best conditions either with Essien also injuried, Makelele gone etc. Chelsea are in a bit of a transition period and unless a manager gets to change things it will be hard. But from what Scolari said it seems he could have been the right man for Chelsea to make those changes next summer.Jaime wrote:I don't believe in making excuses, especially after the fact. Plus he only got half a season which isn't enough imo in Chelsea at the moment.

Re: Chelsea sack Scolari!
You can argue that he is right or wrong, I just think it is rather pathetic to make excuses. And Glenn, that is the only comparison I was making is that they both are trying to avoid blame by making excuses.

Re: Chelsea sack Scolari!
Great interview. he highlights a lot of the fundamental flaws that have been raised on this board on many occassions.
Agree with Glenn & SuperMadrid. Chelsea were great at the start of the season, but as teams figured them out, a Plan B wasn't available because of the shortcomings of the squad.
He Certainly didn't help himself though - his inability to forcefully decide between Lampard, Deco & Ballack, resulting in that disastrous selection which led to getting battered by a Man Utd team who didn't get nowhere near their best, and even though he's right to moan about Robinho, he was underusing J.Cole criminally before his season-ending injury.
Still though, Chelsea are a squad on the downturn, and will continue to be so if Roman keeps his gas tap shut.

TS I agree with almost everything you wrote but Scolari is right Chelsea just don't have that player who is that extra special including a over used Joe Cole. The HuddFather wrote:Great interview. he highlights a lot of the fundamental flaws that have been raised on this board on many occassions.
