It's not as if Cologne outplayed us. Even Barcelona lose to inferior teams once in a while. I'm obviously not happy with our defence, but I haven't completely given up on Klinsmann yet. It's his first real job.

I love how Yuri Zirkov's performance in an international tournament has gained him such a reputation. I 1st saw him against us in the CL about 2 years ago, and he played well as a LW. But I think he's another Grosso(ie good going forward but suspect at the back).

I remember him well from the away game two years ago. Dutch managers like Advocaat have a habit of putting left midfielders at fullback (i.e. van Bronkhorst and Zenden) but essentially he is what I would call a "classic" winger. Beat the man with pace, get to the byline and play a dangerous cross into the box.

I'm sorry you can't compare utter sh!t like Drenthe, or mediocre Marcelo to Zhirkov. And it's not just the Euros, I've seen him play for his club, and Russia qualifiers. I'm impressed by his overall abilities.

Obviously Zhirkov is a lot better...but he's still not a left back.
